2 months post-op today and have been crying all morning...
As of today at 2 months post-op, I am only down 35 lbs. and have been at that for over two weeks. Yes, I had my "womanly issue", but still. What scares me most is that this is the weight I had for a year after losing 100 pounds via the LAP band. I am afraid my body is permanently stuck at 264 and may never get past that!! Seriously, I am feeling hopeless and down. I drink well over 90 oz. water a day, AT LEAST 75-80 grams of protein a day, and manage to stay well under 900 calories a day....more like under 700.
I haven't called my surgeon yet, never had a NUT, and I am making an appointment with a psych on Monday. I am seriously regretting ever going through all I have so far.
Awwwww Carey. I'm sending you a hug. Definitely call your surgeon. Personally, I'm worried that you're drinking too much water. Yes, you can drink too much water. I admire that you can do that much protein. I'm horrible with protein. Ask your surgeon for a NUT that you can work with. I saw mine once a few months before surgery but I really need to make another appointment. She gave me a lot of information and tricks and thinks. Some work and some don't but it's better than trying to do this alone.
Sometimes it seems like those plateaus never end. But, it will. But definitely call your surgeon on Monday and tell him what's going on. He can help you get over this plateau and get your body losing the way it should. Try to get out today and have some fun. This surgery sure can get the hormones out of whack. Hang in there hon!!!! We're all rooting for you!!!!!

Carey, you and I live close and so if you are looking for a Nut and do not get a recommendation from your surgeon let me know and I can give you contact info on mine. She has been great and if I have a q I just call her or send an email. She has been very supportive and inspiring! What about excercise? Maybe you need to increase your activity to get over this point?
I am hear if you want to chat....

Carey;
I so feel for you! Im also 2 months today, and have have lost a total of 24lbs since surgery. only 5 the last month (still not sure how that can be, when i spent every day throwing up anything i eat!) It sure doesn't seem fair.
My mom had RNY about 4 years ago, and has since, started gaining (she hit a really hard plateau!) She went to a Nut, and she was great with her. She gave her the book (you can get it at a book store or online) Surgical weightloss for dummies! Dr took her off white flour and sugar, and it started coming off again. (white flour might not be your problem, but maybe your Nut will see something that is. Thats what she's there for.
Funny..before surgery, we would have thought losing 24 or 35 lbs a month would be a miracle! now we're not happy with it.

I can't imagine that you would be "stuck" at 264 when you're eating under 900 calories. Sounds to me more like you're body is in "starvation mode" and hanging onto whatever it can. It may sound crazy, but maybe you need to INCREASE your caloric intake. You also don't mention exercise, and I'm sure that would help move your weight loss along.
Hi Carey,
Don't get discouraged. I had a gastroplasty and got back up to 276 and had this revision and was stuck at 236 for over a month. Then I started swimming and now I am at 226 so it is starting to go down again after my RNY. Try walking more or eating more protein. I am not an expert but finally it is working for me so I am not as discouraged as I was when I was at a standstill.
You will start losing again. Revision weight loss is slower according to my doctor.
Hugs,
Esther
Hi, Carey!
I'm about 5 weeks out, and down a grand total of 24 lbs! So at least you're ahead of me! Like you, my body seems to have a weight it does not want to go below, but once I finally broke thru that barrier, my weight loss has picked up. Funny. Anyway, talking to your NUT can only be helpful ~ hope this resolves for yousoon!

Carey,
I'm also two months post-op, I've lost 30 lbs so far but this is the second time I have been stuck at the same weight for a wee****ep telling myself it's still early in the process and the plateau will pass. I have been searching the internet to find out if there is a recommended number of calories to consume per day. Some days I just gag at the thought of food and can only drink protien shakes. I thought I was puting myself in starvation mode when I couldn't get past 500 calories a day, then I read that exercise is supose to rev up the metabolisim so that does not happen. I too felt twinges of reget this week but from what everyone on the boards say this is all normal. Hang in there, this will pass.
