I'll be 8 weeks out on Wednesday, at first I was having trouble going on my own had to use suppositories at first. Now I have been going on my own thank goodness like every 2 days or so, it might be TMI but I went yesterday and then I went again a little bit today. Is it normal to go that much? And also is it normal to be like normal BM's from before surgery? Or is it supposed to be liquidy? A friend of mine who had the bypass 3 years ago is trying to tell me I am absorbing everything I eat because I am having normal BM's, this is also the friend that was eating Big Macs 3 months after surgery and wound up gaining 50lbs back (eyeroll), but now she has me thinking I am not malabsorbing like I should be. Any input is appreciated. Kali

Kali, mine fluctuate A LOT. But then they did before surgery too so maybe I am not a good example. But I do not think what your friend said is true. My surgeon asked me at my last follow up how my BM's were and I told him....he said well as you advance your diet they will get more formed again. i go through times were I go everyday and a couple of times at that. Then I might skip a day or two....but again.....that is how I was before surgery. Just ask your surgeon or even your nutritionist when you can. Someone that gained back 50lbs does nto seem well informed to me Donna

Hey Kali! I got the same info as Donna. My surgeon and my nut at separate times have told me that as I got further into foods my movements would become more solid. In fact, I'm now taking colace and benefiber to soften things up! Of course you should ask your surgeon and nut, but I don't think your friend is right. Good luck! Robin
