Trapped wind (gas) in upper back
Hi all,
firstly here in the UK we say 'WIND' you say 'GAS' (i believe) - However the problem is THE SAME & painful. Usually worse at night, the pain is in between my shoulder blades and underneath the shoulder blades. Has anyone suffered with this type of pain?
I saw my doctor (GP) who gave me some liquid medicine and this was two days ago, i still have not had any relief!
I have heard of getting gas in the tummy and gurgling noises, i get that also - but this is a fairly constant trapped bubble like pain, and sometimes when it shifts can take my breath away.
Is this common and how long does it last?
PLEASE HELP!

Hi Julie,
I've read about the gas but had and open surgery myself so no first hand experience here. However I do remember reading posts about gas pain in the back. For me I had back pain from the rib spreaders so I can empathize at least.
Have you been exercising? "They" say thats the best way to work out the gas pain.
Good luck. Try posting this on the main board if you don't get a good respopnse here.

Thanks guys,
Appreciate your reply. The doctor gave me some Altacite Plus liquid medicine, it has peppermint in and I have read plenty about how peppermint helps with gas.
It just seems very odd to me that my pain is in my back. Some spasms are quite sharp. I will try doing a little stretching exercise to see if I can dislodge it. Lot of pain for a bit of air! : -(
