Female question????
Nanci,
I had RNY on 5/22 and had to stop birth control pills one week prior...which meant that I started my period the day before surgery...joy of joys! (I also broke the no tampons in the hospital rule, but don't tell anyone )
After that mine came just about one month to the day following surgery - I had no clue what it was going to do since prior to birth control, I was not at all regular. My doc said no B/C for at least two weeks following surgery because you could increase your risk of blood clots, so I waited until one month after and started again. My first non-b/c period was hellish (painful and heavy), but I"ve not been "warned" about any absorption/in-effectiveness issues. Lord I hope not - I'm too old to start a family!!
Good luck,
Chele
I hadn't had mine in a while and then the day of my surgery I began spotting. Two or three weeks later I had a full blown period.
They say that stress can cause changes as well as the fact that as we start to lose fat, hormones are released back into our system from the fat that is being lost. These hormones were trapped in the fat and now that it gets released, we can expect a variety of changes in moods, periods, and even temperature changes.
What fun huh?
