Female question????

Hello Ladies, Has anyone had issues with their menses following gastric bypass? I'm 5 weeks out and a week late for my monthly friend. Don't think I'm pregnant, but now getting worried... Thanks! Nanci

I wish I was late. I got it when days after leaving the hospital, 2 weeks after that and now I have it again. 3 times in 6 weeks, but my NP said that it was normal for your body to adjust. Lauri

lol i can top that...i got it while i was in the hospital...ahh that was pleasant along with massive caffein withdrawl....last month i barely had any and this month it was just normal...i'm on the pill though to regulate my hormones

Nope sorry I do not have that problem.....mine returned the day after I got home from the hospital.....and since I am 4 weeks out today.....probably time again.....ugh thanks for reminding me LOL!!!

Sorry I'm not having that problem but I have been blessed with the never ending period. I'm always either full force or spotting. I wish I had your problem Really keep us posted and talk to your dr. Also are you taking the pill because that could be a cause for concern, absorption issues. Rebecca

I'm with Rebecca....I have the never-ending period too! Ugh!!!! I was on it when I went in for surgery...it didn't stop for like 2 weeks. Was gone for about 2 weeks and started all over again......I've been on it for another 2 weeks or so now. I'm getting REALLY irriated with it. =(

Mine was about a week late both times since my surgery. The first one was so easy, this time it really has been bad...ugh! I too started to worry that I had somehow gotten pregnant one month out of surger Amy

I just asked this yesterday in the RNY forum because I too was curious. I'm finishing my 2nd period since surgery and both have been perfectly normal...2 days late both times, but no more cramps/bleeding/spotting than normal. When I go to my doctor next week I want to ask her about nuvaring to ensure that my cycle stays on track...I'm scared of it going crazy like it does with a lot of people post-op.

Thanks Everyone for your comments. I did take a pregnancy test this morning as I had one around the house. It came back negative, thank god! However, still no sign of my monthly friend! My surgeon made me go off of the pill one month before surgery, so now my hubby and I are just using condoms, which he obviously hates! I was pretty regular on the pill, and it's been so long since I've been off of it, I'm not sure how my cycle will be without it. I was told birth control pills were a no-no post-op due to the absorption issues. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks again! Nanci
