Have they ever canceled surgery due to not stopping smoking?
Well I am not sure if they can tell if you have smoked but they run alot of test and do alot of blood work right before surgery. I think that i have heard that they can tell. Also a non smoker can easily smell cigarette smoke even when you think that you cant. Well in my case I can anyway. I have ordered clothes off ebay before from someone who said they were non smoker but it was a lie because the smell was stong as soon as I opened the box. I would personally try my best to quit..... Just keep your eye on the prize...Is it worth a cancellation to you to have another cigarette? I was a smoker tooo for years but you need to figure out which is more important to you-----The cigarettes or the surgery to help lose weight and give you a new lease on life...... Maybe you could try gum or find something to do to keep you busy so you dont get bored....I think if your can resist the urge after 2-3 days it will become easier....Just like with food----On the 2 week liquid diet the first coupla days was hell but it seemed to get a little easier each day that followed. Just try your best-----thats alll you can doooo....(((((HUGS)))))) Carol.
Thanks for the advice and I'm really trying. I have a 2 year old so I dont smoke in my house anyway and I have cut down ALOT maybe 4 or 5 a day its just the hardest thing I have ever tried to do. I've been a smoker for 18 years and never have stopped, guess thats the problem and as far as the patch or gum, the doc said no to all that coz it releases nicotine also so its cold turkey. After the surgery chantix (I have heard) is the way to go.
thanks all,
sandy
