How many calories do you eat per day?
I'm getting about 800 calories per day, and I had my surgery on May 9. 800 is what my dietician recommended, and she even said to me last week that I could go up to 1000-1200 if I wanted. But I can't get that much in so I'm still right around 800. This is NOT a lot of calories so don't worry that you are getting too much! Remember that your body needs fuel (calories) to live and if you don't have enough you can make yourself very very sick.
Yep, I was eating about that much pre-op. The thing is that a lot of people who had surgery around the same time as me are saying they can't eat a thing, or they aren't getting their water in, yada, yada, yada. I don't have a problem with getting my protein and water in at all, so I thought perhaps I broke my pouch. I called my nut and she says I'm doing great! That was a big relief!
I was worried I was stretching my pouch at one point too because I was able to eat a half a cup of food at a time but my dietician says you can really only stretch it if you seriously abuse it. I don't know what exactly that means, but I doubt we're abusing ours! What a relief, huh?
Continued good luck to you on your journey.
My doctor says not to count calories, just eat lots of protein and I will lose. Some protein is high in calories but you can still lose weight by eating it. When I am on regular food, then the doctor may have me count calories but 700-900 calories is not very many, especially if they are healthy calories. Some people are eating 1200 calories a day and still losing so don't worry, you are doing just fine.
Hugs,
Esther
