How long does dumping last?
How long does dumping last? I emailed my surgeon today about the horrible gas/crampy feeling I feel in my lower abdomen because I was scared I might have an obstruction. He said cramps, etc without vomitting it is highly unlikely it is an obstruction. Especially since I went with like the exact same thing to the ER once and they found nothing on my tests. I have to trust in his opinion, and he suggested the cramping/gas could be a form of dumping and that he suspects I might be eating something too high in carbohydrates. He said to keep a food log. Im wondering if it's the spinach I had yesterday....I had those morningstar farm spinach nuggets, I ate about 1.5 and thats when this started. But I've had them before...I guess maybe it's one of those things where your fine with something one day and then the next it doesnt agree with you. But the pains continued into the night, but I also had something else with spinach for dinner maybe thats whats causing this? But I thought dumping only lasts for like 30 min, and I still had the cramps this morning. They have since passed. Ughhhhh who knows. I am so upset over all this stuff that I wonder sometimes if I made the right decision.

Hey didnt you say that your period had come in and earlier post? Well I was asking because I had my period shortly after surgey and it was HORRIBLE.........I have never had a bad period before but I had the worst cramps and bloaty feeling ever.....I dunno though....This is your body though and your life-----If you feel like something is wrong insist on them checking it out.....If something ever were to be wrong then it would be you in the hospital bed not the people you worry about bugging and thinking your a worry wart....LOL that is what people call me cause if I feel anything is wrong I ask.......but anyways good luck to you TTYL Carol.
Yes, I am actually just getting over my period. I have a little light bleeding today but that is it. Sorry if that is TMI lol. I didn't think of this before, but when this same type of feelings happened to me a week and a half after surgery when I went to the ER, I was actually getting over my period then also. Maybe it has to do with it. Maybe this is my bodies new way of feeling when I get my period. My surgeon emailed me back and says he thinks it might be a form of dumping, and that I should keep a food log. I am going to do that so we'll see how it goes. I just always thought dumping only lasted for a little while, didn't think it could last hours.
