I don't know if I have bowel obstruction but I am so constipated that if I don't use a suppository, I don't go and it hurts because I am so uncomfortable and have a lot of gas. Has anyone experienced that? I thought we were suppose to get diarrea with this surgery and I haven't had it yet. Hugs, Esther

Well just a quick update, I was in the ER all night. I finally couldn't deal with the pain anymore after having it for like 3 days straight. They ran blood, did urine, gave me a bag of IV fluid, they said I was dehydrated AGAIN. I'll be 6 weeks out this wednesday and this is the second time I've been to the ER and wound up being dehydrated. Who knows if all my pains were simply just from dehydration. I went at 8:30 last night and didn't get home until 6am this morning. They took X-RAYS of my abdomen and didn't see anything except a lot of gas (DUH, that's the pains I've been having). One of the surgical residents who works with my surgeon came down and reviewed all my stuff and examined me and said he didn't think it was necessary to do another CT scan which I was kind of happy about because I didn't want to drink that nasty crap again. He paged my surgeon and my surgeon agreed. I go to see my surgeon on Thursday so I am going to see if maybe he can send me for an outpatient CT scan where I can drink the crap at home and just go and get it done, or an UPPER GI just to make sure we aren't missing anything. I am supposed to be going on vacation in a few weeks and I would hate to be away in a strange place and wind up with a big problem. I'd rather be safe than sorry. In the meantime I am going to make sure to get in all my fluids, take my fiber supplements, and make sure I eat. I haven't eaten since Friday night, and that is bad. Hopefully this will alleviate my problems. The surgical resident said sometimes it takes months for peoples systems to adjust to working again, afterall they did completely change my anatomy. My surgeon told me to add Colace into my routine so we'll see if that regulates me. Thanks for all the support, I really appreciate it all. Kali

Oh yeah i was just walking several times a week kali. see i was 408 lbs and i lost 23 prior to surgery . thats how i lost the weight give it time you will see. see they had to pump your stomach with air. my son is a med student. he studied this. he walked me through every thing. as far as this procedure go. and you are used to looking at yourself also as the way you are. i can see a difference i do not look like i am carrying twins. at least i do not have to hear. when's the baby due?... i still get gas. i became lactose intolerance also . i have to drink lactaid now. go figure. your body is adjusting to the new pouch and get your fluids so you do not dehydrate.
