Cyndi, Though I am not having as much trouble as you are I am having issues with trying to advance to the pureed right now and had to go back to full liquids. But I will tell you I can not get the thicker shakes down some days but I discovered Isopure drinks which are thinner, clear and in fruit flavors. And there are 40 grams in the 20oz bottle so 2gms an ounce.....maybe that would be easier than the powder shakes. I will tell you though the closer I get to three weeks the more tired I feel and I had so much energy the first two weeks (maybe it is becuase I have to go to work monday )Just hang in there and try to take it easy. Sorry your husband is not being more supportive. If it were not for my husband and my mom having come in to help with the kids and the house.....I would not be making it that is for sure! Donna

Hi Cyndi, I am just glad that you have seen your doctor. It sounds like you did too much, too soon and should have rested more right after surgery for a couple of weeks. Our bodies have to heal and yours is trying to heal without you resting so it will take a little longer. You will be fine and my prayers and love are with you. Hugs, Esther

Hi Cyndi, I am so sorry to hear that you are having troubles. I hope all the hugs and prayers coming your way help to lift you at least a little. I'm attaching a guardian angel to look over you... I must confess I had some serious regrets in the beginning. My complications were different but still distressing, And of course, pain. I eventually turned the corner though and and getting back to whatever it is that passes for normal these days. My doc has me on mushy foods from week 2 to week 6 and I'm too lazy to mush them so I'm mostly on protein shakes still. The protein is paramount right now, as is the exercise. You did not mention whether you were supplementing the pudding and water or not, but don't try to go without the protein! It is necessary to rebuild the incisions and repair the intestinal plumbing. The exercise signals your body to burn fat. Without exercise, the body burns other tissue. You want to avoid losing muscle mass and/or organ tissue at all costs! Do whatever you need to do to get that 60 grams or more a day and exercise to make sure it goes to healing and muscle building. If you are having trouble finding something you can keep down, ask your Nut for samples. If they are like the Nuts in my Dr. office, they have lots of samples of different things. I tried the sample pack from BariatricEating.com and found a few things I liked in there. And keep us posted as to how you are doing. Do not hold back for fear of bringing others down. We cannot support you if you hold back, right? Hugs! -- T.Rob

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had regrets. I knew this would be hard but, crap, not this difficult. lol I'm doing okay with the exercise. Since things are crazy here I tend to do my exercise at night or very early morning. I'm trying and trying with the protein. I'm ordering the unflavored Unjury and I'll see how that goes. I got a TON of sample packs and they all gag me. If I can trick the bod with the unflavored I'm sure I'll do much better. I think it's been WAY too much too soon after surgery. Thanks for the support! * Cyndi *

Hi Cyndi! First off, it's okay to go through your emotional moments, but know that you did what was best. I had my surgery on May 4th and everything went fine. I literally walked out of the hospital(I asked to do it). For two weeks everything was pretty much as expected. I did/do not tolerate protein shakes, but I nibbled on pudding, apple sauce and other soft foods. Soon after, I lost my toleration for EVERYTHING. I vomited constantly and was told that I have the "foamies". Well, my first day back to work was May 30th, but by 11:30 am, I ended up in the hospital. I stayed for a week while they attempted to rehydrate me and get me to eat. During an endoscopy, they found an ulcer(which is common). Because of my loss of appetite and inability to eat, they inserted a PICC line, so that I can get my nutrients through I.V. I'm home now, and on Tuesday, will have had my line in for two-weeks. I get plugged up to it every night for 10 hours. I won't lie to you, I still can't stomach food, but until my stomach heals on its own, I feel better knowing that I am still getting my nutrients(especially PROTIEN!!!) People want to know so badly if I regret my decision. Heck, the home health nurse came right out and asked me, AND she was shocked when I told her "nope, not at all". I think of it as this, this sick feeling will not last forever; I'm only 30 and I have a whole lot of life to live. It also caused me to respect the surgery for the major surgery that it is. You will feel better. Your body just needs a little more healing time. So hang in there!!! Quinn

Hey Quintella................. Sorry you have had your problems, but you definitely have the right attitude, honey!! Keep at it...............as all of us know, we are all different, but as long as we keep our eyes on the goal, it is worth it all!! If we choose to stay in our overweight condition, without WLS, we will end up with other major problems eventually!! I know that when I decided to go for it, at my age, I had a great possibility of this ole stubborn body giving me trouble..........that was one reason why I chose the sleeve and paid for it. I was afraid my age would cause more probs with the RNY pd for by insurance. But, no matter how much trouble..................the goal IS worth it!! You go girl!! Karen

hi cyndi....i got mine done almost 5 weeks ago and i'll tell you....the first few weeks i wondered if i did the right thing....i felt like crap all the time and rundown and i won't even get into the mental part of it, being one that used to love shoveling the food in like it was my last meal...lol but you will start to feel better...my nutrtionist said the main thing to concentrate on is to take your supplements, 48-64 oz of liquid and protein....the protein is what will give you your energy back....hang in there it will get better.... lizzie

Hey Cyndi! There's days I am sorry I did it. I love the weight falling off but not the constant puking and dry heaving I have to deal with whenever I put anything in my mouth. Last Tuesday I had a Barium Swallow Upper GI test to see if I had a stricture and NOPE just a problem with me. My surgeon said the same thing....welcome to week 3. It started right at week three and starting week 4...it's better some days and others it just downright sucks. I'm sorry about the hubby...he needs to try to be more supportive or keep the comments to himself. They don't help. Even though I know it's a bad habit to get into...when I can't stomach anything...I eat a few saltines and it helps. Another time I notice when I get sick a lot or nauseated is first thing in the morning....SO hungry that I could puke. I don't post a lot on here anymore because I've had such a hard time, it's better I don't so I don't bring other people down..but I read them! Take care it'll get better....I'm saying that for your benefit as much as mine....trying to convince myself of it too. Jamie

Yup, I love that I'm down 35 lbs from my highest but, gees, the rest of it SUCKS. My husband keeps asking me when I'm going to "try" real kind of food. I'm pretty much sticking with the SF/FF pudding. It hasn't let me down yet. LOL I've been reading about the cheese sticks so I'm going to get some tomorrow. I ordered some unflavored Unjury stuff and hopefully that'll help with the protein problem. Thankfully my husband is leaving on a business trip next Monday. Maybe I can get myself back into a routine. And, Jamie, please post on here. Or catch me on Yahoo Instant Messenger. If anyone was told this was easy, they should have looked for another surgeon. Mine was brutally honest about things that can/would happen. I've dodged a few post-op bullets but these last couple weeks have been horrible. Post away Jamie! You should know by now the May 2007 family is wonderful. Hang in there! * Cyndi *
