Hello Everyone, I had rny on 21-May-07 and just found this board! I have been lurking a bit and am amazed at the differences in what people are allowed to eat! I am in the pureed phase and am having an awful time getting everything in. On the days I do, I usually wake up the next morning feeling yucky. I'm also having a hard time sticking with true "purees". I miss chewing! All and all, I feel great and find these boards to be very helpful! Thanks for all the great posts! Nanci

Yes, I too have been amazed @ the differences in pre-op & post-op directions including diet. Mine seems soooo liberal compared to others & I must say I am soooo glad!! I am 2 weeks out & already on a reg. diet. Welcome to you & congrats on your new life!!

Hello April! I am envious! I have another week and half of purees and then three weeks of soft foods before I get to start with any "normal" textures! I'm hanging in there, but can't wait to chew again! Congrats to you as well! Nanci

April yours is moving even faster than mine. I thought I was only going to be on pureed for two weeks but the dr said until I see him again so that is 4 weeks. I actually talked to my nutritionist today and was mentioning how many differences there were, but she just encouraged me to stick to how the surgeon wants me to progress, and not rush things....actually in trying to progress to puree I am not able to tolerate much and was told to go back to full liquids. It is going to make it hard to start working my 12 hour shifts next week with this constant eating or drinking I am to do. And right now I am trying to figure out how to get in all my vitamins, calcium and iron when none of them can be taken together. I keep getting told it gets easier.

Nanci, I hear you on missing chewing! At least in starting the pureed I am able to use a spoon or fork. But I do miss chewing. It is especially hard because I am home all day with my mom and kids and they are chewing.....but this phase will not last forever and the result......wow I can't wait!!! Donna

Hi, April! Glad to hear you're on reg. diet at 2 weeks out; I am too (almost), and was wondering if my doc forgot to tell me something! Hope you're doing well! Yours, Nancy in CO

Welcome Nanci, This is a great board and a wonderful group of people here. I am still on soft foods, but I have been trying to find different things to eat all the time. I am not much of a leftover person and now that is all I have...lol. It is very hard to get everything in everyday...some days are better than others. I missed chewing too...just know that it does get better. Kelly

Getting in the liquid & protein every ay is really tuff!! I missed the chewing too, as well as using a fork...LOL But it's true...it will get better or @ least it did for me, a little bit everyday. Heck, I go back to work in a week!
