I am 3 weeks post op. By the time I get my protein drink in and the vitamins, I have no room for anything else. Will this slow my weight loss? I have lost 23 lbs since I started. 17 Since my surgery.

Lisa...I'm having problems getting everything in as well. But as for the protein drink....that should be counted as your breakfast as far as I'm concerned. I don't think it's possible with the size of your new stomach to be drinking a protein shake and eating breakfast for one meal. You'll be okay. I can't even get the protein shake down to begin with so you're doin better than me. lol. Hang in there!

Hi Lisa, I am having a hard time getting in all my protein and fluids. I don't know how other people can drink so much. Also, once I take my vitamins I am full too...I never thought it would be this hard to get all this in everyday. Hopefully it will get better for us soon!!!! Good luck!!! Kelly

Something must be wrong with me, I can get everything down and feel like I still have room. I hope my doctor made my pouch small enough. That worries me. Hugs, Esther

Lisa, I am 5 weeks post op and I had a hard time with that as well....one thing that may help is to do like the others said and use the protein shake as your breakfast. I also recommend to wait about and hour after you eat to take some of you meds/vitamins.....you can take some of them before breakfast but besure to wait 30-45 minutes before having your shake. Hope this helps. Most imporant is to not overfill yourself, cause you need to keep those meds/vitamins down. Kelley

Of all the problems to have I never would have thought I'd be worrying that I'm not eating enough. If your protein shake is too filling/ thick try thinning it with water or using soy instead of Milk. Patti

I guess each of us are on differnt post op plans , but I am 2 weeks post op and until 6 weeks I will still be on 2 oz every 30 min (has been an ounce every 15 alternating clears and full liquids) but now I am adding in some pureed and this is suppose to be for ethe next 4 weeks. Though I do not get it all in but in that plan is specific times for me to take my vitamins. So the way mine is written 7:00 2 oz protien drink. 7:30 2 tbs eggs; 8:00 2 0z protien drink; 8:30 2 tbls eggs. 9 to 9:30 sip water and then the next two hours is protien drinks and something else.....and this continues for 12 hours....but I do not get it all in. I am told to just keep trying and as the swelling goes down it will get easier. I do make sure I get my protein in though......but jsut at 2 oz at a time.

Hi Lisa, I'm two weeks out and having the same problem. My doc says that as long as I get my protein it's OK, though. One thing I found is that some protein shakes are more protein-dense than others. The ones I can get in my local grocery store or warehouse club have a little more than one gram per oz of liquid. The ones I get at my local health food store have 2 or more grams of protein per oz. It's a lot easier to get all the protein with these. Good luck! -- T.Rob

I to was having trouble getting in all the protein I was so tired of the shakes but I found something new that they came out with it's called PROTEIN 100 made by GENESIS today. its not the best tasting stuff but 1 oz is 15 grams of protein no sugar no nothing just protein. I found it at the health food store. Good Luck Lynn

i feel your pain lisa....it's been almost 5 weeks for me....i just spoke to my nutritionist because i know i'm not getting all the calcium in that i'm supposed to but she just said that will come in time....the main thing to be concerned about is drinking the protein shakes, taking the supplements and getting all your fluid in....eating comes second....i'll tell you though those protein drinks are killing me....it takes me the whole damn day to drink it! lol
