EVERONE how are you doing?
Hi guys,
I missed chat last night and I was going though reading profiles trying to find out how everyone is doing and you all are not blogging so I thought everyone should check in. I want the good, bad and ugly LOL. Don't worry if your down its ok share with me. I miss you all our board has slowed down a lot so lets just spill the beans!
I'm doing good for the most part. I'm so sick of food, I wake up and have to think of something to eat and I would rather not eat lol. I had my first post op a week ago and it SUCKED. I waiting 2 hours for 3 minutes of my dr's time and I had to chase him down to ask my questions. He told me totally opposite things as the dietitian like that I should be getting in 1000 cal a day. I say YEA RIGHT I'm only eating a 1/4 cup of food and I'm lucky if I get all that in. I don't get in 1/2 my water because I can't drink for 6 hours during the day because I'm having to eat 6 times a day. He said not to worry about eating 6 times a day, No protein drinks unless my blood work comes back low (not doing blood wor****il 6 weeks out ) oh well I'm over that appt now but as you can imagine I was SO frustrated. I have been losing weight nicely I think I'm at 30lbs lost today so I'm happy. I know in 1 week I will be released to all foods except high fat, nuts stuff like that. I'm just going to take it easy. I'm excited that I have my 10th wedding anniversary next week and we are leaving for Vegas next Thursday 21st. Ok thats enough for now.
I hope you all post and share with me
Rebecca
Hi Rebecca! I'm doing GREAT now! I got the okay to start Stage 3 foods. Well, life has been so crazy for her dance recital that I had to try some turkey on Saturday or I'd have never gotten to eat. Hubby got a hot turkey sandwich and I took about 2 oz of turkey. It was the best food ever! lol Yup, I'm pretty pathetic. I had a kiddie portion (well 1/8th a kiddies portion) of spaghetti yesterday for dinner. It had one meatball on top. I was starving and ate some spaghetti then tested the waters. I've heard people have a lot of problem with beef. It was wonderful and no problems. I've stuck with pudding or macaroni the past few days. I'm down about 33 lbs.
I had the BEST compliment today from my mom! My mom is like 5'6" and 125 lbs wet. Obviously I got the "fat gene" from dad's side. Anyway, she asked how I was doing, told me I looked tired and then she said.......your face is getting tiny! I was so happy! My mom's great but that was just the best compliment. lol
I'll be working on my blog tonight. The last two weeks have been full of this dance recital and I'm so happy it's over! I asked the teacher if I could take tap next year because I won't look like a dancing hippo. She's going to let me.

12 days out, and doing great, thanks for asking! My doc cleared me to go back to exercise, and I signed up at a local "QuickGym." Don't know if anyone's ever heard of this, but it's a complete workout in 8 minutes!! I have never been able to stay with an exercise program, but this I can handle! It uses a Range of Motion machine that works every muscle group almost simultaneously. Seriously, if you hear of one if these places near you, give it a try!
I'm also on soft foods, and have been living mostly on canned salmon ~ lots of protien, and my tummy seems to like it. My doc told me that every bite of carb is a little more hair lost a couple months down the road.....
Hope everyone is well!
Yours,
Nancy in CO
Hi Rebecca,
I am frustrated too because all my doctor tells me is to eat only protein. All I can have is tuna, eggs, chicken, turkey, cottage cheese and that gets really old. I have started back on the protein shakes because I can't swallow another piece of chicken and then for dinner I eat tuna or an omelet but I am bored with the food I am eating. I could never get 1000 calories down right now.
Other then that, I feel good and people are starting to ask me if I am losing weight so it must be showing. HOORAY!
Keep up the good work and have fun in Vegas. We are having a family reunion there June 24 - July 8 and I am so excited. I love to swim so I will be getting a lot of exercise.
Hugs,
Esther
Hey Rebecca!
I missed chat also because I was babysitting. I'm doing good, will be 6wks out tomorrw. It's really hard to believe! I can't believe it's been that long already. I'm doing good, but could be better I guess. I've been noticing my old habits creeping up on me and I think it's made me a bit more crazy than usual It's scary! I've also been getting foamies a lot which sucks. I'm going to have to ask my surgeon if it's normal because it seems to happen way more than I think it should.
Aside from that I'm back working both jobs full-time and starting up summer school in a couple of weeks. Life is crazy!
Hi everyone and thanks for the post Rebecca. I may not post a lot, but I check this board regularly, and it seems to have very little activity.
I was one month out on Saturday. I've lost 37 pounds (including pre-op liquid diet), so I'm very happy with that. In fact, I feel "thin". But then I see myself in a storefront window and realize my reality is not everyone else's.
Food is boring and blah, but I've had no problems so far. No foamies, no dumping. I do feel very dizzy and lightheaded at times and wonder if I might have low blood pressure. I will check that out with the doctor this Friday. I have gone from a size 20 to a size 16 AND I made it to "Onederland".
Wishing all of you the best,
Susan
Hi Rebecca!
Glad to see everyone is doing well. Everything is so far so good for me. I have been on pureed foods for the past week and so far I haven't found anything that I can't eat yet. I did eat too fast today and thought I got something stuck.
But I've been walking every day (got up to 5 miles today) and I'm down 19lbs today. I go back to work tomorrow which I am so thankful for- I'm getting super bored being at home. So we'll see how that all goes.
Glad to hear you are doing well- have a great time in Vegas!
Kathy
Hi Rebecca,
I've never posted on this forum (I usually read at the RNY forum) but I thought I'd check in and let you all know how I'm doing! I had surgery on May 9 and am down 30 pounds. I am having no problems with any foods (except one episode with half a banana that didn't really sit very well but it was nothing major at all - just a little icky). I am enjoying things like cottage cheese, hormel 99% fat free turkey chili with some low fat shredded cheese on top (YUM!), avocados (double YUM!), soy chips, egg salad, etc. I have some tuna and I think maybe I'll make that to bring to work for lunch tomorrow. I have had no dumping (because I haven't eaten any sugar or high fat foods!), major nausea (just when I wake up in the morning and I need to eat) or any vomiting. I did have one very mortifying experience with explosive diarrhea (sp?) at a friend's house (without giving TMI, let's just say I didn't make it to the toilet in time and then spent 45 minutes in tears) but thank GOD that hasn't happened again.
I think I've been eating too much in one sitting as I can easily get down 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, chili, egg salad, etc. For the past couple of days I've cut it back to 1/4 cup at one time but it does NOT satisfy me. Any input on portion sizes would be helpful if anyone has any advice or experience. I'm going to talk to my dietician about it when I see her on the 20th of this month.
My 3 week followup went great and I'm right on track for what they want to see.
Today was my first day back at work and it SUCKED! I mean, it was great to see my friends that I work with, but damn. I loved being a lady of leisure during my 4 weeks' recovery time. It was really hard to come out of my "cocoon" and back into the world. Oh well, there's a little thing called a mortgage that somehow comes due every month and the pesky bank seems to get a little upset if it doesn't get paid.
Anyway, it's been great reading everyone's stories and I'll look forward to reading and posting here more often. Glad to see everyone is doing so well.

Hi everyone,
I have been so busy lately that I've not had much time on the computer. Before surgery that seemed like it was all that I did in my spare time.
I've been fortunate to have a textbook case. I was off pain meds by day 5 and walking 3-4 miles within a week. I did notice that I was starting to feel very weak on 200 calories a day during that first week. I called the doc and got the green light to shorten my clear liquids by a day and my full liquid diet by a week (noramlly my doc likes 1 week on clear and 2 weeks on full liquids). On Thursday I go into the world of pureed foods and I'm looking forward to it. I find it pretty easy to get in my target of 700 calories per day and 70 grams of protein. Overall I'm so pleased to be among the chosen ones for this surgery...it really is something we need to cherish since so many people sit on the outside looking in (at least here in Kansas).
I'm heading off to our summer home with the kids this week to recharge for school, but mostly to walk, walk, walk. I'm taking the year off from my normal summer job to treat this weigh loss like my job. When I get back, I want to have made significant progress. I'll try to check in at the local library for internet access and will do the best I can to stay somewhat connected.
I've lost 19 pounds since the start of my liquid diet. My total with the pre op loss is 55 pounds, which I'm very happy about. I feel that I have a pretty good jump on this and I'm glad I started back in January to make the modifications to this new life.
You all keep up the great work and I'll catch you after the summer is over...let's see some great numbers from you folks.
John
