I'm trying to not to be a paranoid idiot, but sometimes I just need a reality check from you guys. I had surgery 9 days ago. I still have left-sided abdominal pain that feels muscular. I feel it when I get up, lay down, bend over or sit in certain positions. I'm assuming this is just normal, post-surgery pain, right?????

hey my surgey is new too (may23rd) but sometimes it feels like I have tight pants around my waist and my side hurts too especially when I have been busy or driving. The left side is where they do all the work. It is your largest incision? Well ttyl hagd. carol

My surgery was a few days befor you and I am still quite tender on the left side. Just when I thinkit isn't I turn or pull just so and it is back to being sore again. In fact I am a side sleeper and still can not sleep on either side. If I sleep on the left it hurts and if I sleep on the right then all the organs follow gravity and it pulls. Good Luck to you!

Hi I have something similar and my surgery was the 25th. I am not sore at all until I move the wrong way or lift or pull something the wrong way, When I say lift or pull I mean light small items. Even to bend over and pick up something if I do it the wrong way I get a pain in my left side that feels like a ball tightened up in there or something, as soon as I straighten out I'm fine again. I asked my doc about it and he said it could be still gas or just muscular because that is where the work is mostly done and the muscles are still healing too. Hope this helps. Angela L.

That must be normal because I feel like I am wearing a girdle and my left side hurts from time to time. My surgery was May 7 and it's getting less and less but after I eat I feel like I just put may girdle back on. Weird! Hugs, Esther

Jill, the belly pain was my worst problem of all. I had severe pain up until June 10 and my surgery was 5/7/07. I actually had to go back to the ER a couple times because I could no longer handle it. I did find that I had a UTI and that it may be contributing to some of my pain...however the muscle pain is very normal and the best things is to relax and don't get to anxious about it, it will pass eventually, trust me. Basicall I made a ritual of lying for a few minutes, then getting up and walking for a few, then I would reline for a while. Riding in the car was the worst for me so I tried to stay away from that this last 2 weeks. Hope this helps.
