3 wks post & have lost 1 lb in 6 days--HELP
I am 3 weeks post and was losing at least a pound a day and then 6 days ago nothing. Started at 262 and am now 244. I am becoming discouraged. I am keeping a food journal and am eating between 500 and 800 calories a day. I was getting 60g of protein and eating right--only sugars from skim milk; protein shakes, etc. Then yesterday, I became so discouraged that I ate 300 calories and only 30g protein and lost 1 lb. I am drinking all my water and exercising. I don't understand the plateau so early on. Has anyone else done this? What helped break through.
Thanks
Laura,
Don't get to upset. I was losing from 1 to 2 lbs a day and then from 2-3 weeks not 1 lbs but then I lost 2 lbs one day then nothing for another week. Our bodies are just trying to adjust. People say not to get on the scale all the time. I know that is really hard for us because hello we just had surgery to lose weight LOL. I have heard that from week 3-6 it is possible for our bodies to stop losing weight as they are figuring out whats going on and this is how life is going to be. It you will start losing weight again. Don't stop doing the right thing.
~Hugs it will get better~

If I'm doing the math right, you've lost 18 pounds in 3 weeks. That's an average of 6 pounds a week. When's the last time you did that?!!! It's amazing. Your body is definitely adjusting, but it's not going to stop losing weight. It still doesn't happen overnight. I'm so glad I don't own a scale. I'd drive myself nuts.
I was the same way, I started to get discouraged, however, I had to do the math also and realize what I did lose in the first couple of weeks. I am 5 weeks out, to date have lost almost 40 pounds, however, not much in the past 3 weeks at all. I have to realize that we hit plateaus no matter what.
Our bodies will adjust, be patient. What I had to remind myself is that I didn't put this weight on overnight, I will not lose it overnight either.
Good luck, this too will pass....

Hi, Im Suzanne, and im discouraged too. I had surgery about 6 weeks ago now..and have lost 15 lbs.. 12 of that was the first week.. so 5 weeks, 3 lbs. Doing everything they tell me to do, eating about 500 calories. Its frustrating. (not to mention the expectations of people around you, that "knows everyone loses 30 lbs the first month". Its hard to keep my spirits up.
