LOL I had my WLS on 5/25 and I've been so faithful. But, it's VERY annoying to sit at Applebee's and have NOTHING. I'm sick of going with the hubby and sipping iced tea while he eats. So, he took me to the surgeon today and I got all my staples out. Because the surgeon is so far I had missed eating by about 2 hours. So, he was starving and we stopped at Applebee's. I didn't order anything then decided it was ridiculous. So, I got the kiddie mac 'n cheese. 10 chews and anything on the fork is obliterated so I got it. It was the BEST food I've ever eaten. LOL I brought the remainder home so I'll take some tonight to dance recital practice. The kids are buying everything from chips to hot dogs to meatball sandwiches and I'm sick of being like 3-4 hours late to eat. If I thought I could obliterate a hot dog I would. LOL Just wanted to share my ridiculous joy with you all. Mark didn't want me to eat because he knows it's puree time for me. But, when you're starving you'll try anything. I'm down 27 lbs since about May 15. I'm a happy girl!!!!! * Cyndi *

Good for you, Cyndi! That's a lotta weight loss. I know what you mean about the mac 'n' cheese. I cheated with a little bite of cottage cheese and it was at that moment the best thing I'd ever eaten. I never liked tomato soup or broth so the cottage cheese was the only thing I've had other than protein shakes. Today I received a bottle of mint-flavored calcium citrate lozenges from bariatriceating.com. They take forever to dissolve and it's like having candy except that it's not cheating. My 2-week NUT appointment is tomorrow which is actually 4 days early. I'm sure I won't go straight to puree but at least I'll get the timeline. I got my blender out and all shined up. Ready to have some of those ridiculous joy moments too! -- T.Rob

Isn't it funny how the goofiest food excite us. My husband was so afraid I'd be sick all afternoon. I feel better than after anything else. Congrats on the protein shakes. They are the only things I *can't* keep down. I'm just going to have to order the unflavored stuff from unjury and mix it in everything. I finally used my Magic Bullet for a protein drink. It mixed nicely but as soon as that drink hit my mouth I felt ill. lol My first week home was liquid, second week was full liquid, this week is puree for me. I'm so excited. If I never eat jello or pudding again it'll be too soon. * Cyndi *

Yum! lol Do you like French Onion Soup? Applebees has a good French Onion Soup on the menu that would probably be very early post surgery friendly. TGI Fridays is even better. Mmmmm! I had my one-week post op yesterday and was cleared to start "full liquids"...meaning I can have creamed soups (with no chunks), yogurt, sugar free pudding and cream of wheat. I was never so excited to have Cream of Wheat in my life! lol I also made creamy potato cheddar soup and it was delicious. Since I am only allowed 2 Tablespoons at a serving, there is plenty of leftovers. lol Congrats on the weight loss. You are doing great. As of this morning, I'm down about 16. Michelle

I actually bought the Bear Creek Creamy Cheddar Soup packet. You just add water. I had to put it in my Magic Bullet (VERY handy little countertop blender in case you don't know what it is!) because it has little chunks in it and I can't have chunks yet - everything has to be well blended. Anyway, it's very good! It's about $5.50 for the packet and will last you a long time. lol This is what it looks like if you are looking for it at the store. They have different flavors. I picked up the Creamy Broccoli one too. They are usually found by the soups in the soup section. http://www.farawayfoods.com/bearcreek.html Michelle

Michelle, I had it the french onion soup broth twice and couldn't take more than 2 sips either time. It was just gross to me. So, every time hubby wanted to go there I would just sip iced tea. Macaroni sat just fine and I brought home the leftover and was able to eat it two more times. LOL My family just thinks the whole thing is weird now. LOL * Cyndi *

I only drink decaf. After having a lumpectomy caffeine has become a HUGE no-no. I have no desire for soda at all. It was funny though. The first time I went out to eat with hubby I took a couple sips from the straw. Force of habit I guess. But, I noticed I sipped smaller amounts with the straw. Now the servers at Applebee's know I can only have a straw to stir with. lol * Cyndi *

Wow, each surgeon really is different!! I am 9 days post op today, and have been on "mushy" food since I left the hospital on day 3 post op. I was also given a mug with a straw to drink out of and there was never any concern about stretching the pouch with a straw. I do not feel that any of the things I am allowed by my surgeon are interfering with my weight loss as I have already lost 30 pounds, and like I said, I am only 9 days post op. Good luck with you weight loss.
