Hi Sherry, I did have a lot of bloating in my tummy from gas but never really had gas pains. I was uncomfortable but after 3 days it all started coming out and I felt wonderful after that. It really isn't very bad so don't worry. Hugs, Esther

Hi Sherry I just had my surgery Lap RNY on Friday the 25 and the gas isn't that bad at all. I chewed one Gas X chewable whenever it was aggrevating me but that was all. It really hasn't been a painful experience what so ever the whole way through this. I am so glad because I expected much worse pain than any of the discomfort that I've had. Take Care and hope this helps Angela L.

I was lucky. I didn't have gas pains like other people. But I did get a little bloated a couple days after being home. All I did was walk, walk and walk. It helps get the gas out. Good luck

hi, i had the band and i thoght i was going to die from the gas pains. my incisions didn;t bother me at all. they were in my chest and i was crying, and crying, but let me tell you those gas -x strips saved my life. and to be able to sleep i had to use a ho****er pad on my chest. that really helped too. i had posted here and alot of people replied to help me with their suggestions. i guess it took about a week to go away. all i wanted to do was to burp or fart or something to get the gas out, and i couldn't do either, lol. my friend with the band didn;t have gas pains at all.some people get them, and some don't.

I didn't really have gas pains. Some bloating, but that only lasted a few days. Everyone is different!!

Hey Sherry, It's different for everyone. I had lap-RNY and it took about a week for the chest pains and everything to be gone. Unfortunately, there's isn't much you can take since the gas doesn't stay in your stomach..it spreads to your neck, shoulders, back area...gas medication won't relieve that pain. Honestly, it was pretty painful the first day, but the rest once it started to pass, it was barely there.
