Colby's on the road to recovery
We went back to the doctor yesterday. The doctor said he did not have to return for 3 months and is released to all activities that he feels like doing other than being in the sun, playing contact sports or lifting weights with his right ankle. He can do squats and upper body weight lifting.
We also went to the school yesterday morning and the counselor gave us some of his work and exams to take at home and return today. The others he can do over the next few weeks and call and schedule to come in and take his last final exam then, he will be promoted on to the 10th grade as scheduled.
He received the first of 2 permenent compression garments that he will have to wear for 18-24 months. They look like the wet suits that divers wear. The shirt is long sleeved and thick. It hooks then zips in the back. I had to have help getting it zipped up yesterday. The stockings he has to wear come up to his thighs and are impossible to get on over his bandages without causing the bandages to wad up. But, I guess in time we will get use to everything. They said this would help with not only him getting skin tears frequently but, help with the circulation and prevent some of the blisters that form then burst leaving open areas mostly on his legs. So, we will do what we have to do.
Hope everyone is doing good,
Gwen
