Exhaustion...did you feel this way? 2 weeks out
I had my Roux-en-Y on May 8th. A little over two weeks ago. I am feeling good, but I am exhausted. I started at 252 and am down 20 lbs. I am getting all my vitamins (I think), I am getting at least 70 gms of protein and getting my water in. (48 oz +). The culprit could be my anti depressant. I feel like a lump. I am walking 15-30 mins a day at least 4 times a week.
I have never been a ball of energy, so I am afraid this is what my energy is really like.
How long did it take for you to feel more energetic? I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and that was a long recouperation, about 8 weeks.
Am I being too hard on myself? I am trying to do chores (laundry, etc). But, mostly I wake up put kids on bus, go back to sleep until noon, do a little around the house, sit on the couch and try not to fall back asleep, etc. Thanks.

Hi kitty, my surgery was a day after yours and I understand how you feel. I still have my good days and bad. I think you are doing a great job in getting your protein in and water. I am having alot of trouble getting all of it on. I also had a hysterectomy last year in April and also on anti depressant. Sounds like we are n the same boat. I dont think we are alone. My mother and sister both had the surgery and it took awhile for them to get back up to par. Our bodies have been replumbed and is not use to this new life change. I know it will get better. That is what I am told. If it contunes for a longer period of time, you might want to check with your Dr. Just think, we are back already doing our house work , tending to our kids, cooking etc.. And its only been two weeks.. I think we are doing great!!!
Congrats on the weight loss!!

It's only been two weeks. I laid on the couch and did not move for two weeks and I have two toddlers! Don't beat yourself up. This is the beginning which is the most difficult. Your energy will soon return once you begin eating real food. Keep up w/ the protein and vitamins. I know its hard but protein helps heal your body. I'm six months post op and I exercise every day. I have energy but by the end of the day I'm wiped out. Once you begin seeing the weight drop off you will suddenly feel like you can conquer the world!
Hi -
I just found this site the other day. I also had surgery on the 8th and I am tired all the time. My Doc said I went back to work too soon after the surgery. I also haven't been getting the protein I need so I have been working at that now too. I hope that if I get my protein up I will feel better but recognize that it may just take some time before my metabolism and body sorts itself out.
Good luck to you javascript:setMainIcon('clown',15,15)
