Hello all, How do I take in my protein during the first two weeks aft surgery? I looked at beef broth and it only has 2grams per serving, which is a cup. Any advice will be gladly accepted. Rich

Rich, In the beginning, just worry about getting your fluids in. The protein will come after the first week. I too was amazed at how little protein foods actually had in them. I love fat-free refried beans with a little low-fat cheese, but the protein is actually quite small. (surprise) I find I have to get the majority of my protein through shakes or Isopure. Good luck, Susan

I expect that I would be adding protein powder (unflavored, of course) to the broth. Also, protein shakes with skim milk for protein. That what my surgeon recommended.

I made protein shakes and sipped them over a period of time. You can also buy those tube of protein that have 42 grams for 3 oz. it's expensive i think 2.00 a tube, but then you will get it all in. Just remember to take it slow, it all comes around.
