Pureed Foods
I am scheduled for surgery June 27th and am wanting to start getting some postop foods ready and frozen as my dietician suggested. My doctor requires 2 weeks liquids, 6 weeks pureed foods and then slowly start adding in soft to regular foods. Any ideas for some smoothies during the liquid phase and also some foods that can be pureed and taste decent.
Any and all advise/recipes are appreciated.
Thanks,
Julie
Onthe liquid phase I enjoyed soups with a milk base ae great for protein, and a different taste (chicken, mushroom, potato, squash, tomato...), also have broth, milk, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles, protein shakes, water, crystal light, sugar free koolaid during liquid stage...
now in pureed and am enjoying the liquids still plus egg salad, livewurst, cottage cheese, tunafish salad, salmon salad, sugar free puddings, and sugar free fudgesicles
During the liquid phase, I enjoyed broth, sugar free popcycles, sugar free jello, whey gormet protein drinks (these taste like REAL shakes). I have strawberry banana smoothie and boy does it taste real.
On pureed, I have a freezer full of 2 oz cups of chicken, pureed in seasoning that I made before surgery. It's so easy to pop them out and put them in the microwave and they are tasty. When I start feeling too full, I do the next meal with broth to relax my pouch.
I have lost 36 pounds so far so I must be doing something right. Get creative during the pureed phase because it gets old.
Hugs,
Esther
