MISS ME?!?!
Hi everyone!!
I made it home on Friday around 4pm. The drive home is about an hour but didn't seem too bad. I have been off of all pain medications including Tylenol since Thursday evening. The worst of the pain is when I drink too fast (still learning) or gas pains. (I finally was about to pass gas Thursday afternoon (who knew it would feel so good to fart).) I haven't been able to tolerate the protein drinks great. They are SO sweet and I about kill over from my own breath. They say it's because of losing weight (ketones) and the protein, my gosh, I need to invest in SF breathmints. It's hard getting in all of the fluids and protein. I know I haven't done that well but I keep working on it. My daughter has been very crabby since I've been home and my husband has been absolutely wonderful picking up the slack and allowing me to rest whenever I need to. Carlee just wants me to be the same ol' mom and I am just not there yet. I get my staples out on the 30th. I can't wait to be on pureed foods. I did jump on the scale today to just "see" what I weighed. Pre-op diet I was 355. Surgery day I was 347. Today it said I was 325. Not sure what the difference my scale and Dr's scale is but I LIKE IT!! I'm still swollen in the belly so nothing is fitting differently yet obviously but I like those #'s going down already. I got Rebecca's care package. I enjoyed it, there was a journal, candle tarts, bookmarker clip, Bath and Body Works soap, some lipton soup and apple cidar drink packs. She enjoyed the one I sent her also...it had a soy candle (I make them), fingernail polish, bath and body works lotion, SF jello, SF pudding, chicken broth, and some other stuff I forgot I threw in. I recommend doing that for your angel...it's a great way to cheer them up. I can't wait to talk to you all after you have gone through this...right now it's hard but I know it will be well worth it. I am not a big fan of hot dogs and my husband had one for dinner today and I could have just about attacked him for a bite. Well, I better go and rest, I'm still supposed to not sit with my legs dangling for more than 30 minutes at a time, higher risk of blood clots. Take care and I'll talk to you all soon!!
Love,
Jamie
Glad your home Jamie. I started laughing at the Hot dog thing. I am the same. If there were hot dogs it was no big deal and thinking I went for. But I have been begging my husband to have one because I want one so bad LOL I guess I'm going to live vicariously through him LOL. I know what you mean about stinky breath LOL I just keep brushing lol..Glad your home, Call me when you feel up to it!
Rebecca
Welcome home Jamie. I'm glad you're doing well. I cracked up about the hot dogs. I'm having all my "last" meals. Today was my hubby's birthday so we went to the hot dog place. I started whining about my last hot dog. My kid thinks I'm so pathetic. LOL
Sounds like you are doing great!!!! Take measurements too. When the pesty scale looks like it's stalling, the measurements will tell the real story.
Take care and get plenty of rest!!!!!

6 Days and Counting!!!
Hi Jamie,
What a neat idea to send the care package. I am glad that you are doing so good. I feel like an oldster.....my surgery was on May 7th. I am feeling great too and each day I feel stronger and stronger. Being tired is my only problem but that is normal and I am 60 so that may have something to do with it.
Take care Jamie and keep us posted on your progress. Oh, I've lost 30 pounds so far, cool huh???
Hugs,
Esther
