Cigna PPO
Hi,
I have Cigna PPO. I live in Texas. I intitally tried in Summer 2003 but was denied b/c i didn't have the medical records from my doctor who has been treating me for weight loss for years. (blame that on the office i was going through) I gave up, then in 2004 I tried again and went through a private doctor. I started everything in April 2004, ran into an issue with finding a psychiatrist that wouldn't charge me an arm and a leg for their evaluation, gave up, then tried again later that year. Needless to say, once I got everything in to the surgeon and they sent it off to the insurance company it took maybe 2 weeks to hear back from the insurance company. I do remember calling because you know they tell you the 30 day waiting period stuff, but my pcp told me to call my insurance company and ask them what was taking them so long. I pay for the insurance, it's a covered benefit and i have met all the criteria. Not too long after the surgeon called and told me i was approved. Had the surgery Nov. 8, 2004.
Had the VBG. Wouldn't recommend it, wish i would have done more research. Gained my weight back. Trying to have a revision done and go with the lap band. I meet with the nutrionist and psychologist and my primary care doctor next week. Already met with surgeon who will do it. Gotta play the waiting game with insurance again. But anyway, to answer your question, it shouldn't take Cigna PPO long to respond. If you meet all the criteria you should be fine. Good luck, and you are in my prayers
