I'm home!!!
Hey everyone - wow! I feel/felt your well wishes! Thank you all so very much!
My surgery was delayed just a litte tuesday morning, and the surgery took about 3 hours... they had to do some clean-up of adhesions from previous surgeries, but Dr Posner is quite pleased. Even went so far as to tell Louis I have good skin tone so I may not have huge loose skin issues (I wish - fingers crossed)... I was quite out of it Tuesday, the pain meds were wonderful! They got me up and walking around 6pm, then once more before bedtime. The next morning I was up once an hour. THAT IS THE KEY!!! I had a leak swallow test in the afternoon, all good, so now I am on liquid diet: protein drinks, diluted juice, broth, sugar free popsicles and jello, skim milk... got a week of this, which will be fine - NO HUNGER PANGS, although my tummies are certainly noisy, lol! Some upper back pain from the gas, but it is nothing I can't handle. I feel great!
To all of you with surgeries coming up and or deciding - you CAN handle this! All the best to everyone! Erin
I am home also. Hi Erin, I live down here in Louisiana, had my surgery on Monday at Ochsner's come home yesterday and am feeling great, like you I got up and and first sat in the chair next to the bed about four hours out of surgery and by six hours out I walked to the other side of recovery and into a private recovery room for the night. Slept about three hours and got back up and sat in the chair for the rest of the night and watched tv. About eight o'clock they come got me for the swallow test everything went great and off to a semi private room with someone else for about three or four hours and she left and was by myself till I come home yesterday at about 2:30 in the afternoon. Feeling great down here in the south.
