I made it!
Well I made it through surgery. I had my surgery on Thursday and came home Sunday afternoon! Its really good to be home though I wish I couldve brought my Iv and morphine and phenergan! I had a vomitting and nausea reaction to all narotics so I am only taking tylenol and let me tell you that does not cut the mustard!!!
Any suggestions for pain relief or to heal faster so I can wake up pain free???
Thanks
Jamie Bradcoski
Hi Jamie,
I'm so happy that you made it through and are now home. Congrats on being on the losing side! Sorry I do not have any advice on the nausea or pain, though. I am still pre-op. Maybe if you posted on the April '07 board someone would be able to help? Hang tough though. You will get through it and then you will be able to concentrate on all the great changes going on.
Best wishes,

Hi Jamie - I'm sorry your in so much pain - I can suggest a couple of things...but they may seem a little "weird". First of all, we all have what is known as a "pain gate" in our spine that directs the message of pain out to all of the rest of our bodies. There is a way to shut that pain gate! It is done with positive thinking....and when you start thinking positive about your pain, the good endorphines start flowing!
I told you it was weird....but it's also been proven (Dr David Burns did some new research on this theory)! The other thing to do is deep breathing techniques. Breath counting to 8 in through your nose, and then release that breath through your mouth for the count of 8. Then count slowly to 8 and repeat.
The other thing I have used to combat pain is ice. I don't like ice, so I will usually put a heating pad on my back, and the ice where the pain is...some how that helps me tolerate the ice.
Okay, enough of my weird pain theories!
