Hello, I sense my life have been turned up side down. Just wondering how you are doing Po-Op? I am having in there wondering if I made the right decision? I am taking it easy but looking for someone who may have the same feelings. Trying to stay positive. Goodspeed, Susan

Hello Susan, very interesting.......I had my Lap Band on 4/16 and was in pain for 2-3 days after the surgery. I was also a bit sore for about a week and a half. The pain will pass and I thought to myself today....and even posted on this sight wondering if I had made the right decision. I guess the phsycological part of this plays with the mind but don't succumb to the negative aspect. Keep positive and you will see that everything will be alright....thats what I tell myself too. I wish you the best and god bless you. Eric

Thanks Eric, What I hear everyone saying is give it time and keep moving. I love this saying we can only, " act our way into right thinking, we can't think our way into right acting." Just keep following the rules and telling yourself that your mind would soon catch up with your body and it will. Changes take time, I think we sometimes expect to morph into a new person immediately, but it was the changes that I was experiencing with my weight and realizing that after all this time it was finally happening that triggered my strange response. For some reason it was all very overwhelming. You made the decision to improve you health and that's always the right thing to do. Give it some time and relax! You're going to do just fine!! I pray that these feelings will leave very soon. You'll be okay! Just rest and walk around as much as possible. Thanks for your input.

Susan, Remember that you have spent a lifetime developing behaviors that, for better or for worse, were influenced by your body and the way the world treated you. It was in some cases the strongest influence on your behavior. We hear tales here of people avoiding restaurants because of booths, buying slip-on shoes, avoiding going out in public, etc. These behaviors and habits will take much longer to change and adapt than your body will. This will put you out of your comfort zone a bit but that's expected and normal. Thin people always had the option of disguising themselves as obese but it doesn't work the other way 'round...at least not without surgery. When you are feeling aprehensive, ponder a moment on the notion that you are merely *disguised* as a thin person and let that inform you as to how you could/should act differently - if at all. Always remember that having been there and come back as a thinner, healthier person you have the benefit of the experience of obesity and all that it entails. Let that make you more compassionate toward your fellow beings, regardless of their cir****tances, even as the world starts to see and treat you differently. This can be a tremendous advantage that people who were always thin do not have. The very people who treat you differently based on your changing looks are the ones who most need to learn from the example you set. So, yes it's a challenge, but you and I and everyone else here are changing the world for the better one person at a time. We will live undetecable among the genetically thin, subtly influencing their behaviors with our example. We will dilute the meanness and hatred. Perhaps we will give up a seat on a bus or train to an obese person struggling to hold on. Maybe we will simply meet their gaze and smile, just to let them know they are not invisible. But all they will know is that at least one (thin!) stranger treated them with dignity and respect. I hope this helps. It's my dream and maybe a little wacky, but I know that we are serving others in some way and that helps me get through the moments of doubt. Maybe it will for you or someone else as well. Hugs, -- T.Rob
