Losing weight in Vegas?!?!
Well, I made it to Vegas and have stated a goal of losing weight while I'm here. My wife was incredulous - "lose weight in the land of the endless buffet?" she asked. I pointed out that if I go to any regular restaurant my choices are comparatively limited and whatever I order they bring me enough for three people. At a decent buffet there are many good choices and you can choose (or not) a reasonable portion.
So how's it working out? Our hotel overbooked and ended up bumping a bunch of us to the Paris hotel and they arranged a few comps, including free continental breakfast in our rooms. I usually avoid "continental" breakfast because I could never see paying $15 for a bagel, some coffee and a slice or two of fruit but hey, when it's free...
So breakfast arrives and there's no bagel or fruit to be found. It's cheese and cherry danish, a giant muffin crusted with sugar and nuts, a rugalah (sp?) pastry stuffed with chocolate, OJ and tea. Arrrrrgh! I LOVE cheese danish! OK, walk away. Flu**** down. Stick it in the hall. Anything to get that out of my sight!
One other thing I noticed...although there is no plain bread, croissant, bagel or anything like that, they provide both butter and jam. The only surface not already smothered in sugar is if you broke open the muffin and buttered/jammed the insides. I'm in sugar shock just *thinking* about that combination!
Ok, that's all for today because I need to get to the conference where they have fruit, bagels and bottled water. At least the company is thinking about our health and making it easy to do the right thing.

Hang in there T.Rob, you can do it!!! Go to the Bellagio, they have an awesome buffet with shrimp, and crab, and sushi, and lots of stuff that if you don't add the sauce to it, it can be low-cal. The salad bar there is to die for, load up on the veggies, and sprinkle with a little oil and balsamic vinegar, YUMMOOOO.......
Best wishes.....
