Happy revelation

I've been concentrating on the tasks and process of WLS so much that I hadn't really thought about some of the side benefits. I travel for my job and have two weeks worth of "work clothes". One set that travels with me and one that is in the laundry at any given time. As they fade out, or more likely *wear* out, they become "play clothes". When I'm not at a client site I avoid wearing the work clothes to make them last longer. My wife sees me in the work clothes only if she happens to be awake when I leave or come home, which is not a lot. Yesterday I realized that there's less than 8 weeks to my surgery and that's only three or four wearings for each item. Then by the time I can travel again, I will be three weeks out and these clothes will already be loose. There's no way I'll wear these clothes out before I need new ones! For the first time in my life, I am looking at shrinking out of my clothes before I wear them out! So I'm wearing my work clothes around the house (working from home this week), while out shopping and just in general looking and feeling GREAT! :bowtie: My wife just loves it, too. If this is what it's like before, I can't imagine what I'll feel like after the surgery. So break out those dress clothes all you May dates and enjoy them for all they are worth. You're getting rid of them soon anyway. -- T.Rob

I work at a hospital and have oodles of scrubs I have outgrown. I am looking so forward to my "new (old) wardrobe". I make my own scrubs and will be taking them in for a while then I'll have to dig into that stash of fabric I own. Isn't this gonna be fun!

You make your own scrubs? Now there's a handy talent to have! I've been known to sew on a button or take up the hems of my jeans and half the time I mess those up! The last button I sewed on, I inspected the fabric carefully to find the exact holes where it was originally on. Then centered it dead on the holes and sewed it on for good with upholstery thread. No way that sucker was coming off. Then when I held the shirt up and looked at it from arm's length, I realized that I'd sewn the button in the inside of the shirt. Doh! Well, have fun with your new clothing project. -- T.Rob

T.Rob...thank you so much for that! I don't have specific work clothes at my office, but I will be more than willing to give up what I'm wearing, hoping to return to the "old" clothing in 2 of my closets from a time when I was smaller! This means I can empty my bedroom closet to make room for the smaller goodies! Best of Luck to you and your new found wardrobe!

Now I'm wishing I'd kept more of my "small" clothes. Ah well, I did keep stuff that was sentimental. Tee shirts from concerts I've been to, treasured gifts. Will be nice to wear some of that stuff again. But most of it is 6 mos to a year out. The "small clothes closet" must be like a time capsule. Have fun traveling back in time! -- T.Rob

How true! I have a time capsule in my room and in the spare room! Maybe even the attic. I didn't get rid of much...lol Although, my garage has about 10 bags jammed packed. Maybe I oughta make sure there isn't something there i might want! Thanks for the giggle!

T. Rob.................. Another thought for anyone who lives where there are four seasons.............. A friend of mine just went thru RNY the day after Easter. The last week of work she was laundering up all her winter clothes and boxing them up to donate................ as she said......... " I'm never gonna wear these again.!! LOL Karen

I love it! All my life when I've done that it was because I knew I'd never fit them by the next winter. To box 'em up knowing she'd be too small just tickles my heart. Chalk another one up in the win column! Thanks for the post, Karen. -- T.Rob
