Surgery date May 8th

I just got my surgery date of May 8th, I am excited and nervous at the same time. I seem to be a bit older then most of the postings I am reading. I am 54 years old and a bit concerned about the surgery. Has anyone else felt this way?? I will be so glad when it is over and I am on my way to losing.

hello,my surgery date is may 7th. I feel the same way,scared,excited,nervous,but it will be ok. I can't wait to be on the losing side and start my new life.I'm about to start the protein pre-op diet to lose weight around my liver.I keep telling myself it's only 4 weeks till surgery I can do this.write back soon

We have the same WLS date! I'm the first surgical patient of the day. I have to be there at 5:30AM. Yuck. That's usually a couple hours away from the end of my day/night!!! I have a cousin who is about your age that had WLS in 2004. She had open RNY. She had a pretty difficult time, but she had an incision from her breast bone to her pubic bone. Long recovery! Only other thing was the same difficulty most post-ops have and that's getting in all the protein. Anyway, good luck (to us both!) and I'm sure everything wil be just fine. ~~Elena :wave:

Hi to you and Elena I am having my surgery on May 8th too! I feel exactly like you do. My emotions are all over the place. I am also the first one scheduled and I have to be at the hospital at 5:00 in the morning. There are a lot of people in my support group that are your age and they have done great. Hi, my surgery date is may 2nd. and i also have gone thru alot of the same emotions. just to let you know my mother who is 56 had her surgery three years ago and is doing great. so just keep looking forward to the out come of our new and better life ahead... great luck...Tina
