Thanks Andi you know what - you're right. I have been running round like a headless chicken and stressed out of my brain. And stress releases a hormone (I think cortisol) which affects weight loss/gain. Maybe you and me both will lose easier once our lives settle down. hugs, Ruthxxx

you've got my sympathy AND a great big hug ((((((((((ruthy)))))))))) you're doing awesome sugar keep up the good work. I want you to remember that it's winter where you are still and that the human body is designed NOT to lose weight in winter (did you know that?) due to the whole fat = insulation theory! Are you planning on setting up your garden this year, or walking home from your work or Millie's school? What about going on family hikes or what not? I think getting you to pack a picnic or snacks and getting out into the fresh air is really going to help you. For the last few months you've been running to and fro like a crazy person and it's hard to fit in good eating when emotions are high and you are running non-stop. For what it's worth it's my opinion and I adore you. ANDI

This is my opinion but I feel that 1300-1400 calories a day is high for someone just one year out, maybe you need to tweak your diet a bit or look at your non-exercise plan! You are a success no one guaranteed you'd get to your goal or the doctors goal, it's all a crap shoot and truth be told you're WAY not drinking enough water to flush out all that protein from your system. I was told to get in a bare minimum of 64 ounces a day but to aim for 100 ounces per day of diet/decaf fluids so that you flush the fat! Sweets we all feel your pain! You can exercise in the water to alleviate knee pain or you can do pilates or yoga so get out there and do your thing. ANDI

I find that I have a muffin top billowing out over my belt on my pants and think. this is so much better than it was two years ago. the scales have inched up nearly 10 lbs from when I was hysterically freaking out that I was never going to stop losing, this is so much better than it was a year ago. I am not taking any medication for any previous ailments, this is so much better than the last 20 years. my body will go into a sugar coma if I over indulge, I am still able to get cues from my body, and that is much better than I imagined. head hunger sucks... and that is what I am sure is sabotaging my currently. I find that I am HOOVERING pillow mints or trail mix and I truly have to fight myself to just stop and back away from the food. I ran into a 'friend' in the store yesterday, she totally didn't recognize me, and I didn't bother to say hi, what was the point, if she had been a friend, she wouldn't have missed out on the last two years and the change wouldn't have been so drastic that she didn't recognize me. the part that has not changed and kept up with 'me' is my head. I still do not believe 'in me' yet, I am still very critical of my self and my abilities and my future. there are times that I really do not feel confident in getting a certain size, that there is no wiggle room in should I gain another 5 lbs. reformed? yes. complete? no.

Topic: Friday Tip
Have a read of the below - it's interesting. What I want to know tho, is after you have dropped (for example) 500 calories per day - for how long does your body know that it has dropped 500 calories before that amount of calories a day becomes the norm so you have to drop again (or use up more calories by exercise!!)?? Ruth Friday March 28 Welcome to Losing It with Jillian Michaels, the newsletter designed to help you shed pounds, increase energy, and finally get fit for life! Still No Magic Pill for Weight Loss Who doesn't want to be fit and fabulous with little or no effort? Well, as much as we'd all love to have one, there's no magic pill for weight loss. If all of the pills, shakes, and supplements that claim to work really did, everyone would be thin. And even then, we'd still maintain a steady diet of ice cream, chips, pizza, and candy. Let's not kid ourselves, people. For now (and let's face it, forever), successful weight loss still comes down to a simple formula. You have to burn more calories than you take in. Calories are a measure of the amount of energy provided by the food you eat -- the more calories you eat, the more energy you are giving your body. If you give your body more energy than it can use -- well, honey, that's stored as fat. Let's break it down. A pound of fat is equal to 3,500 calories. If you want to lose one pound in a week, you have to create a calorie deficit of 3,500 calories a week, or 500 calories a day. To lose two pounds in a week, you have to create a calorie deficit of 7,000 calories a week, or 1,000 calories a day, and so on. Get the idea? There are two ways to create a calorie deficit -- eat less and exercise. If you want to meet your weight-loss goals, start by comparing your calorie intake against your exercise expenditure. It's not a magic pill, but it's very simple. Find a way to cut and burn more calories and the weight will come off!
