Topic: RE: Crazy bodies
interesting thought process and I'm not sure how to answer! Yes i think our bodies have gotten used to the lower amounts and are therefore not shocked into losing any more. I keep chugging along at weigh****chers even if i'm up and down the same freakin' two pounds week in and week out. For me i know the key is exercise but i just don't make time to do it. ANDI

Do you guys think that our bodies get use to the lower calories and therefore changes the rate at which we lose or maintain? I mean if I look up how many calories I burn in a day versus the calories I take in...I should be losing (as well as everyone else) weight EVERY week but I am not...even gained some. So, are we metabolizing our food differently? What's the deal...i don't believe, it's calories in vs calories out anymore. Does it make a difference as to what the calories consists of? Does our bodies metabolize carbs and fat differently? I am just frustrated.
What do you guys think? I don't get it. At this point I just honestly think our bodies have adjusted to the lower amount and it's gonna take even less to lose.

Topic: A friend of mine...
So a friend of mine had open RNY about 8 years ago...gained lots of weight back and is going in for a Stomapyx (sp), this is not covered by insurance and she is paying for it herself like $9000.00
The scary thing is...I've eaten and socialized with this person and she does not eat lots...After all the testing her doc told her that her pouch and stoma was 3 times as big as when she had surgery....yikes! Told her that she was surprised that she had not gained ALL her weight back. I asked her what she thinks contributed to this happening...she didn't have a clue. No idea how it happened? So I asked lots of questions. The only thing I could gleen is that she does drink with her meals and does enjoy her wine. She also works out regularly. I know these could contribute to this happening but yikes, it scares me.

I agree with Andi...you are not an idiot...it's hard...really hard, just keep trying...it's all we can do. At least you are facing your issue head on and trying to do something about it.
I can join you all on Thursday...I have a luncheon that I can not blow off tomorrow but I keep wanting (and starting to do) this test...let me know.

Hi, I am new to this board. I had my surgery May 2006. I really NEED HELP. I have never reached my goal. I started at 241 (day of surgery) I am now after almost 2 years at 150. My Dr. wants me to be at 140 by my 2 year appt. I guess I'm not eating right. I know I eat WAY to many carbs. what are ya'll doing to keep your weight off.
Now I'm having chronic constipation. Any suggestions?
Thanks

first and foremost Kathryn you STOP calling yourself names right now, you're not an idiot you never were. You are a victim of "stinkin' thinkin'" you know what's neat you can do this again tomorrow. Perhaps you can get me to join you there's another woman who wants to do it perhaps she can join us both. Please don't be so hard on yourself, all we have is ourselves and occassionaly a few others to support us. So you made a lapse in judgement, big freakin' deal thankfully tomorrow is another opportunity to do well. ANDI

Topic: Getting Back on Track
Hello Everyone,
My name is Barbara, I had my surgery May 5, 2006. I have gotten off track and not using my tool. In fact, I think I've forgotten what I should be doing. I have started to gain weight. My original weight was 310 lbs before surgery. I got down to 226 lbs in about 9 months and stalled there. Now my weight has started to creep up I am now at 236. I need to stop the upward blast off.
I haven't been on much since my sugery, however I am committing to getting on and updating my profile and being a part of the community. I saw the 5 day pouch test and I am going to do it.
