Hello Angie Welcome aboard the May boat. We are all struggling here - some to reach their goal, some to not gain. We all support each other as best we can. You know the basics, you have taken the first step. When have you ever stuck to a diet for two years before? I know I NEVER have. But this time it is different for us - we will stick this out for life because there is no going back - we do not want to go back to where we've come from. You have done a great job so far, and I'm sure you can get back to the rules. Hang about, join in the conversation and let us get to know you, so we can all help each other. Looking forward to it

Topic: Gym Update
So I've had my two inductions now - there is this one machine called the Wave...oh my goodness, I can only do a minute on it!! It is a killer. Anyone heard of it? So now they give me a few weeks to get used to the machines and then I can book to have a personal trainer to work with me for a one on one session to devise a plan for me. I'm really glad I've done this, but still feel very extravagent spending that money just on me. I've always had that problem, I'll spend any amount on DH and DD, but not on me. Having wls was the first step of putting me first for a change, and this is all part of my journey. Anyway, they have also got this machine called the Power Plate - you do your exercises on it while it vibrates and it's supposed to intensify your workout? Any one heard of that one? I'm going to try and make the most of my initial enthusiasm, as I get bored very quickly. Maybe if I see results it will give me the incentive to keep going. I'm going to work on building up muscle and being able to run at least a mile, hopefully more!! Watch this space...

Topic: RE: Tempting Tuesday's Receipe - Turkey Ratatouille
Thanks Andi I have never tried turkey recipes outside of Christmas, so I'm going to try this one. Quick question though - can you confirm the carbs and protein count as on the whole recipe the protein is 61.5 and carbs 9.5 yet on the counts per portion they show as protein 2 and carbs 7? Thanks

Hello Barbara you have come to the right place. There may only be a few of us around here, but we stick by each other and support each other on our journey. You have taken the first step in stopping the upward trend, that is the hardest part, so well done. Stick around and we can all help each other on this struggle. I look forward to reading your posts and getting to know you better.

Well that makes three of us in agreement that you ARE NOT A LOSER and YOU ARE NOT AN IDIOT. ok so you made a choice that you regret - you can put that right. Use this as a step to success, not as a stone to drag you down. Wea re all in this together - we've all been there. Hugs

This is my greatest fear... Did she reach her goal weight? I wonder if it's to do with your other post and how we need less and less food now (our intestines grow back somewhat don't they). We can't keep reducing the intake or keep increasing the exercise. We just need to keep vigilent and monitor our weight. As soon as it begins to creep up, try and do something about it. Not sure what though

Topic: RE: Crazy bodies
Absolutely 100% I eat on average 1000 a day - sometimes a little more sometimes a little less. On that intake I should be losing, but haven't for months. If you read other posts, they think that what the calories consist of makes a difference - eg protein verses carbs. I am still uncertain with this, as it hasn't proved to be so with me, mostly. I also drink a TON of water, which doesn't make a difference now. I agree and think that our bodies adust to the lower amounts and now think that it is the norm. Advice is given to increase the calories to kick start weight loss - if I do this I gain. I wonder if the answer is to alternate between very low calorie with 'normal' calorie intake. So maybe either one or two days a week on fluids only - very low cals, and normal for the rest of the week, or alternate whole weeks type thing, or 5 day plan once a month? I have tried to suss this weight loss thing, and still don't understand how our bodies work. Some people reach goal early on, and others, who follow the same rules struggle from the get go. Sadly I'm in the latter group. One theory I have is that it depends on how long the person has been obese for. I call it 'solid' fat if the body has been that weight since childhood for example rather than becoming obese in adulthood. I have nothing to back this up though and would be interested to hear what you guys think. I think that if a body hasn't always been obese it is willing to go back to normal easier as it knows what normal is. Weird theory I know...

I'm hoping like hell it's the wine and not the drinking with the meals. I sip with my meals some are too dry and they won't go down. I'm a grazer though and that frightens me a lot. I have to get the scale out and make myself weigh in each morning like in the old days. ANDI
