If you are not following a really really low carb diet, non-fat lattes are better than cream ones. You can't mix the two diets. Low carb, especially Atkins is pretty strict about what you are allowed so that you stay in ketosis. If you eat regular carbs and eat high fat you are defeating the purpose of both diets.
Ruth, it is really hard to drink cream lattes and lose weight unless you are hyper vigilant about any kind of carbs, it is all scientific and I won't be able to explain it unfortunately.
If by powder you mean stuff like coffee mate, isn't that full of sugar? Coffee mate is my guilty pleasure and I always thought that it was really really bad to have.

I mix my protein shakes with water...NOW!!! I never used to until recently, when I thought about it. I feel so stupid that I added all those extra calories early out, and I actually prefer the taste with water - less disgusting then with milk - I also used to dump on them with milk, but never, before this point made the connection.
Thanks for the heads up. The only one I can get hold of here is 100 cals (made with water) and 25 grams of protein, so that should work for me.

I too am weak, but I just know I can't give up even when I get it wrong, til I reach my goal. I am determined that no matter how long it takes I am going to get there. I get it wrong a LOT of the time though!!!!
You did GREAT!!! You threw a whoel half of a muffin away - nto sure if I could do that. Try to look at what you ARE doing right, rather than looking at where you could do better.
I know you can do it, you've got this far. Try planning the food for your day ahead of time. I found that if I note down at the end of each day 3 good points and upto 3 points that could be improved on, it helps me see it as a learning opportunity rather than an opportunity to get down on myself and see where I've done wrong!!!

any powder creamer is good and yes you can make half and half by mixing cream with milk... milk is not that good for you (a little bit is fine but not every day) protein shakes should be made with water. I make mine with a cup of water , ice cubes and a bit of banana.. (I also add 1tsb) of s/f ice cream to give it a hit of a shake... I have a hard time drinking protein shakes (they can make me dump)... but one I use works... they also need to be counted as calories and be low carbs and low sugar (mine has 4g carbs and 2g sugar)

Hi Karen! I'm not sure how I can help you but i'm here if you need me. Part of me wants to boot camp you and tell you to pull on your big girl panties and suck it up and do it with us but i know you've gone through so much already that it would be cruel to add to your burden. What about making one good choice a day and sticking with it. Today is day two of low carb and you know what, it's easier then it was yesterday. My head stopped that throbing it's more of a dull ache now. I no longer want to cry and take a hostage.
* get all of your fluids in before you switch to coffee or before you get home from school
* take all of your vitamins and pack them in snack bags so you can take them every morning on your way to work
* cheese sticks instead of a piece of fruit or deli meat roll ups. you've got to make time for you
On my way to and from work i force myself to drink a 24 ounce bottle of either water or diet/decaf tea so at least i know i have 48 ounces in and then i'm sipping tea at work and sometimes i'll do a s.f. fruit punch or something ice cold. You have to do what's right for you.
What choices will you make for tomorrow? You can do this Karen maybe not as stringently as we are but you can participate and you should. There is safety in numbers.

Andi and Ruth.....my hat is off to you guys!
I wish i could do it...I am so weak!! I just keep complaining to my husband I am gaining weight.....know what he says to me?????? You eat all the time,somethimes I don't know where you put it all!!! I'm a snacker..so I get me alitlle bag of raisins...tells me they are full of sugar,thats what makes you want to eat,then I go for an ornage...he says another bad choice!!! geezz...
Then I get at work and its teacher appreciation week,muffins and coffee for us! Me so dumb,take a muffin....I ate half and threw the rest away!!!
What started this we were watching the news this morning and they had a size 16 beauty queen,I told him see you can be fat and still win! He says well of course you can be fat and beautiful! I was waiting for him to say look at you!!!! I told him that and thats when he went on to tell me how bad of a eater I am!!!
I go to the DR. on Monday and I need a real fast weigtht loss program!!! I keep wanting to do the 5 day but can't stick to it!!!! Any suggestions would HELP!!!

What makes me giggle is how much you and i think alike. Tonight is going to be chicken for the family but i'm having the fish monger steam me a lobster! I am not sure if i can have butter with it or if i should just have some salsa or maybe some mayo and celery and make it into a lobster salad for me tomorrow. THIS will show that boy who's boss i hope. I enjoy chicken i just think that someone should have thought about me, considering that I make their breakfast/lunch/dinner and wash all of their clothes.

I've always been having low fat milk - I never realised
Is any powered creamer ok or does it have to be a certain one? Half and half - is that half milk half cream? (I can't remember as we don't have it here, but I could make it)
No wonder those lattes that I've been making myself with low fat milk (thinking I was doing good) were not helping!!!!!!

Oh Andi, how horrid! To feel ill, then have NO FOOD LEFT OVER!!! Your boy is VERY lucky he isn't a stain on the carpet - they think they are so funny being smart alecs don't they.
You deserve to buy yourself something extreemly yummy (within the plan) and make them eat something really boring and plain!!!

I'm doing that meal plan that you recommended and I'm eating quite well on it. I DO have a headache from lack of carbs or it could be the rain that looks as if it won't be going away any time soon!
Last night I made steak for dinner! For them i made waffle french fries and roasted broccoli for us all. My head started to throb so instead of eating wtih them i went to lie down. I took a small nap drank some fluids and went to go find food. The four of them had eaten well over 2 pounds of steak....i though that couldn't be that's 8 ounces of meat for all of them. I said where's the steak and they said we ate it, I was beside myself. I said did any of you concern yourself that i hadn't eaten and the middle kid answers back smarmily.....when did this become MY problem, well let me tell you he sure as hell had a problem after that statement. If it's not bad enough that i couldn't drink my coffee all day because i don't like heavy cream and i went low carb with no junk food all day but then to have no dinner and a smarmy ass answer TOO MUCH FOR ME. Thankfully i don't get physical because that boy would have been a stain on my carpet and nothing else! He did get to spend some fine quality time folding socks and doing laundry though and he was in bed by 8:00 wtihout calling his girlfriend!
day 2 will be better. The firing happens today and then i'll be free of the nightmare!
