Hi all how has your week been? Mine has been hectic and stressful, but I've tried to stay focussed - the paperclip chain hanging over my dining room table has really helped me remember. I have started keeping a plan of my days - each evening I write in a notebook what I have eaten and drunk and look at the good points and the not so good. Then I make a plan for the following day, building upon what worked and learning from what didn't rather than beating myself up just looking at what I didn't do right. I take it one day at a time and it is really helping me. So anyway, I only started that a few days ago and today I removed 1 paperclip from my chain - yay!! ONLY 18 more to go.....

I was at an organic restaurant yesterday and ordered a non-fat latte and they looked at me like I was some cow killer! So I got a rice milk latte and after I drank about half of it, I remembered that I can't eat rice! So there I am drinking a latte made of rice and starting to feel sick from the rice. How to ruin a perfectly good latte...

Lattes are my downfall ~ I could just have those all day and no food! But I think for some reason my body holds onto ALL the calories in the milk - even if it is skinny milk so I'm tying to avoid them for a while to see if my weight starts shifting. You are doing great Diane. Wow over a mile jogging! I wish I could do that much - my limit is about 2 minutes!!!

It sounds like you have a plan. That is a huge boost to the pouch test, I have found. I agree, lattes should not be considered in as carbs! How could anything that good be bad? Holly

Ruth, Day 1 was a success, not perfection, but still a success. I have started jogging and was quite suprised to see that I could jog for 1.2 miles. I don't even recall as a child jogging for that long. So, that is my new cardio workout. I have the street mapped out and I am just going to keep jogging and strengthing my legs. I did well with protein yesterday, had to add some food in, so needed the chewing function!! Didn't quite get the carbs completely out, but the day did not involve any cookies!! So again, success!!! Day 2 has started out good. I've already done a protein shake, vitamins, and the 1.2 mile jog. I'm sipping on my latte now, chilling (that's one carb I just can't give up ). I am going to bring some pistachios and some other protein snacks to work so if I get the urge to crunch I will not be tempted by the vending machine snacks! Hope you're having a great day!! Diane

Holly, It's that the truth... a life long battle. We have a tool that has helped us get to this point, but the rest of the story is up to us and the choices we make. Diane

Good for you Diane! As you say, food won't make anything better, even though that is what our inner voice tries to tell us. I admire you for taking a stand against it, getting back into the exercise and the 5 day plan. Let us know how you are doing each day - I'm cheering you on from the sidelines.
