Last minute doubt whether I'm having the right surgery done
I am scheduled to have LAP RNY surgery on May 8th. I've been reading all I can find on the internet and have read about a lot of users here who have had the DS surgery instead. I'm trying to find out more about it to make sure RNY is really the way I want to go. I found the following site to be very imformative www.duodenalswitch.com and it compares DS to RNY too. It's a newer option and therefore not nearly as common as RNY but RNY has been around a lot longer. With all the advantages it claims over RNY why hasn't it become the main choice? Could it be because not many surgeons have experience with it yet? Has anyone else looked into that option? I can't find the downside to having that instead of RNY other than the fact that there are not as many surgeons who perform this type. In fact, thre aren't even any listed in Texas at the site noted above (I live near Houston). I'm only about 10 days from my scheduled date so I guess it's common to have these last minute fears and concerns.
