I had one saved while I was still waiting on my consult and surgery date, but now that the big day is fast approaching, I can't find it. How are you all getting prepared? So far I've stocked up on 2 different kinds of protein powder, decaf coffee and tea, child-sized plates, 2 oz reusable plastic cups for Jello, and chap stick for the hospital. So confused now on what I need to have on hand before going into surgery, and what I can wait on

I was told to bring paper to log your walking and drinking times. A timer to remind you to drink every 15 minutes. Also things like, soaps, hair ties if you have long hair, slippers, robe or comfy clothes and a puzzle book. You may want a pillow for the ride home (so the seatbelt does not put to much pressure on your tummy.) I was also told to start sipping fluids now to get used to drinking small amounts. Anyone heard about not using straws? anyway if I can think of more things I will let you know. Also don't buy tons of protein because your tastes may change after surgery. Have enough to last a couple days after surgery but you can use the time at the store and count it towards walking that day.

Ive got my list...hold on a sec, okay here it is: SF popscicles, SF jello ( yuck), low sodium broth, crystal lite and other SF drinks to help get all the water down. I also bought a pill crusher and because I predict I will have trouble with gas (having the lap RNY) I bought chewable gas ex too. I havent packed my hospital bag but the essentials ought to cover it. Also I am already drinking my protein powder and experimenting with shakes - I bought the magic bullet and love it! Hope this helps! Congrats! Kathryn

Hi All- My Dr provided a small list. So I picked some of the things off that werent listed already: ? B 12 Sublingual 1000 mcg (one to three times weekly)is the only vitamin you'll need for 10-14 days post op if you are drinking the recommended Nutra-Recipe shakes. This can be purchased at Bariatric Advantage when you order your shakes or you may purchase locally at Trader Joes or Walmart. Make certain to get the type of B12 that is absorbed under the tongue. ? Heating pad (highly recommended) ? Thermometer (highly recommended) I have opted against stocking up on alot of things for fear that I wont like it after the surgery although I seem to like it now. Hope that helps some.
