This is my first time posting to the forums here - been lurking since I signed up almost 3 years ago. After two false starts and a lot of waiting, here I am - scheduled for May 2nd. Finally, I can say that I'm ready for this. I was driving to work this morning, thinking about what undergoing surgery (I've never been operated on, and have only spent a couple of days in the hospital in my entire life) will be like, and somehow I knew that today I'd find out I had been scheduled. Sure enough, I called my surgeon's office at Baystate Surgical Associates and I got the word. I called my wife and told her, and I detected a little uneasyness in her voice. I hope she can handle it - I think it finally hit her that this is really going to happen.

Good luck Cliff! I'm also scheduled for 5/2 in Boston. I'm going to drive right by Baystate to get to my appt.! We live in Berkshire county, but I'll be having my surgery at Brigham&Women's. The wait at Baystate was going to be way too long for me. It'll be fun to lose together.

Such a long road for alot of people to take. I hope all goes well. This is something that I think does take awhile for people to have it sink in. I have to remind myself that the pictures that I see of people before and after is going to be me REAL SOON.

That's fantastic that it's finally happening for you. Just remember though that your journey doesn't end there. This procedure is a tool of maintenance for us and we must continue to adhere to the strict guidelines of eating right: intake of proteins, water, vitamins and exercise, so that all the hard work of qualifying for approval and going thru the surgery won't be in vain. Good luck!
