So a friend of mine had open RNY about 8 years ago...gained lots of weight back and is going in for a Stomapyx (sp), this is not covered by insurance and she is paying for it herself like $9000.00 The scary thing is...I've eaten and socialized with this person and she does not eat lots...After all the testing her doc told her that her pouch and stoma was 3 times as big as when she had surgery....yikes! Told her that she was surprised that she had not gained ALL her weight back. I asked her what she thinks contributed to this happening...she didn't have a clue. No idea how it happened? So I asked lots of questions. The only thing I could gleen is that she does drink with her meals and does enjoy her wine. She also works out regularly. I know these could contribute to this happening but yikes, it scares me. Trish

I'm hoping like hell it's the wine and not the drinking with the meals. I sip with my meals some are too dry and they won't go down. I'm a grazer though and that frightens me a lot. I have to get the scale out and make myself weigh in each morning like in the old days. ANDI

This is my greatest fear... Did she reach her goal weight? I wonder if it's to do with your other post and how we need less and less food now (our intestines grow back somewhat don't they). We can't keep reducing the intake or keep increasing the exercise. We just need to keep vigilent and monitor our weight. As soon as it begins to creep up, try and do something about it. Not sure what though

I need this procedure. I had my surgery 5 years ago. I was 317..went down to 220 and now I'm at 283.
