I Joined a gym!!!!!
I finally did it - almost 2 years too late, but I've gone and done it. I was so devastated yesterday, spent the rest of the day in tears, then woke up this morning thinking, OK if I can't get any help with this, then I've got to do it myself!
Went to the gym to sign my daughter up for a cheer leading class, and thought while she is there I will go and work out. Each evening I just sit on my butt and watch tv so there's some time for me to go and work out.
I've booked my first orientation for tomorrow so watch this space. I'm so nervous, the first two are showing me how to use the machines, the next one is working out a personal plan for me and the last one is a follow up to see how I'm doing.
It is a very friendly gym, but I'm sure I'll be the unfittest one there. I've also signed up for a fab-abs class on Thursdays...aghhhh
I'll let you know how it goes after tomorrow...if I can still move a muscle that is hehe.
YAY RUTH!!!!
No, it's not 2 years too late...never too late. No, you WILL NOT be the unfittest one there. Sure you will feel a bit out of place at first but remember EVERYONE did their first time. That is soooo great, I am proud of you.
It's funny how we all feel like we are so busy but in reality if we really were honest we do have time to work out. I enjoy it but it's difficult to get there sometimes. Always happy that I did it...even on those days were I just want to cuddle up on the couch with a bag of chips!
So, good for you...keep us up to date on what your doing and how your feeling. One bit of advice, don't kill yourself at first, take it slow. Remember, slow and steady wins the race!

WOO HOO Ruth!
Gyms can be intimidating, but it is never too late to start and it looks like you are pretty set up for getting proper information to get started.
I used to go to a class for seniors so that I wouldn't feel so intimidated by the 'hard bodies'. The women in the class were really great and I loved going.
I joined the local recreation centre to go to the hot tub and use the stationary bike while I am recovering, but am going to start more when I can again.
You made my day Ruth.
