Emotional Eating

just as an fyi you can drink rice milk, you can't eat rice because we are lacking the stomach proteins to digest it properly and it comes out looking like it did going in. Probably TMI but it is what it is. You'll be ok Miz Holly. When is the second surgery and can you email me your address so we can send you silly stuff to keep your spirits up. Hugs, anDI

I always feel a little sick when I eat rice, but especially since my latest surgery. I think it is because I always got a huge plate of rice with a small piece of boiled meat for the lunch and dinner in the hospital. I even talked to the dietician and she told me that I could NOT focus on protein, that I had to have carbs in her hospital and this is what I got for the remainder of my stay (5 days total). I think I have emotional trauma for rice now... I guess that I am only half joking here too. I did PM you Andi Holly

and hospital rice SO delicious i'm betting, i'm so sorry they traumatized you. I wonder what the deal was on the carbs, they like to focus on the protein for healing usually. This time around it'll be easier because you'll know what to expect I hope. aNDI

Holly, I just love hospital nutritionists that have no experience with WLS patients... NOT!!! Diane

Other than being a carb, is rice not good for us re the digestion? I do eat small amount occasionally ~ pre wls I used to eat loads... Holly don't forget to post just before your next surgery

for me rice is a slippery slope type of food. Prior to surgery it would be nothing for me to order a pint of some fried rice and eat the whole thing...now i just dream about it sort of like it was porn! I don't think bits of rice are too bad, brown rice being better then white but rice is just a filler food having very little nutritional value and some people have a tough time digesting it because rarely do you chew it well enough. Hmm...you're right! Thinking about it, rice is one of those things you just kinda swallow without thinking isn't it. I do miss it though. I was a real carb junkie

Mr. Carb Monster lives at my house. Sundays are Pizza day for dinner Monday is Lasagna day Tuesday is Taco day Wednesday is left over lasagna day Thursday is spaghetti day Friday is fish Saturday is French crepes. I have just learned to only take a small small portion and so far have been doing okay. Ms Sugar cookie has been here this week, she is a biach, but Aunt Flo showed up and Darling Daughter #2 moved out, so it has been an emotional week. did I mention that my parents and my sister and my niece are all coming and that Darling daughter #1 moved in friday. I just want to run and hide.

Kat, I relinquish my title of "Carb Queen" to you, my dear!! Looks like you have your handsful on the stress side, too. We just went on a short trip to the inlaws, which isn't really stressful, but I tend to make really bad food choices. I've done fairly well since Monday (except for the tortilla chips and tortillas yesterday) and have been doing cardio consistently 5 times a weeks for the last 3 weeks. If it wasn't for my stinkin' sinus infection right now, I'd feel terrific. The cardio has been keeping the stress at bay on most days so I've been keeping out of the donut box!! Diane

yes.. our house is full of carbs, the fact that I have kept the scales at 150 for a year is just amazing for even me to comprehend. I do not want to get back to 'that point' again and i do not want to 'diet' again. small portions, keep the core foods that I can digest is working. this morning I ate cream of wheat with a teaspoon of chocolate.. yumm
