The start of 2008 has been a bit rocky. My husband was hospitalized last Friday, he was released yesterday afternoon. So since last Friday, I have lived off of caffeine, food that comes out of a machine, and then anything else that I can get into my mouth. Needless to say the scales went back up to my post Christmas weight, which is okay, I can deal with that. My plan is to make healthy food choices today, smaller portions, and just be good to my pouch, same goes for the next two days. This weekend I want to start the 5 day pouch test to try and cleanse my system. Diane

Oh Diane I'm so sorry to hear about your husband, but pleased that he is now home. It is so difficult to stick to eating right when we are not in control of our environment isn't it. But it sounds like you have done well and getting yourself righted now. I hope your husband recovers quickly, and that your weight loss starts in the right direction again. Here's to an improved new year for you and your family I too want to do the 5 day plan. Today I've found I want to constantly eat whch I want to nip in the bud. What day are you starting? I think I'll try to start on Monday - I find it easier to do at work.

Ruth, Thanks for your well wishes. I thought about starting the 5 day pouch test this Saturday. One of my sisters will be visiting beginning next Thursday thru the next weekend. So I would be done when she arrived. Diane

Diane i'm SO sorry you are having a tough time of it! I have finally gotten the carb thing under control and started losing some much needed weight. I might actually get to goal by my two year anniversary. Slow and steady wins the race I guess! I think your plans are good ones and that you are on the right track. Small, steady changes will help propel you forward and you'll pick up speed as you see the changes you've made will make a difference. If you need me i'm an email away and I'll be your personal cheerleader! Hugs, ANDI

Andi, Thank you for being in my cheerleading section. The carb monster is a tough one to shed, he is so easy to love (and why do they sit so good in my pouch) but so difficult to divorce!! I backed off them a bit yesterday (was good til I saw Smart Food in the grocery store) and will work on them again today. I agree .. small, steady changes will get us through!! Diane

it's been a few days and you haven't given an update, is that because you are too busy piddling from all the excess fluid or because you're out walking or at hte gym? I am doing well. I'm down 7lbs and have one more pound to go until i reach my lowest of the low and then the real business starts. I have to start going back to dance classes. That is my new yaears resolution and i enjoyed them so much that i'd like to make that come true sooner rather then later. aNDI

Andi, I have had a bit more drama in my life!! Thursday, right after getting home from work with my son, he tripped and fell into the coffee table. He cut himself right above his upper lip, which required 4 stitches to close. The emergency room was packed full, just like every other emergency room in the city since Christmas. We went to bed late Thursday and then Friday I was so exhausted. My son stayed home with his dad, who is doing a lot better, and I trudged off to work for a few hours. Yesterday it was the normal clean the house, do laundry and groceries and such, but do it when you are exhausted. Today I am feeling much better, and I had a chance to catch up on a bunch of paperwork. I unfortunately did not start the 5 day pouch test, but I have managed to get some protein drinks in to get my protein intake up. I am also drinking more water, which is good. Some good food choices, some not so good but no one is perfect All and all though, things are looking up. I am up 6 lbs still but that's okay. Happy Sunday! Diane

Hey Di! You know what, maybe it's not about being perfect but about making better choices then we might have before. What if instead of exercising we vowed to park further away so that we'll walk more? Instead of saying I won't eat any carbs today let's say i'll eat moderate carbs or i'll weigh or measure them out so I can account for them. Small, measurable steps that move us closer to our goal. I ate poorly tonight and I'm paying for it but i got to watch the ball game with a group of folks from the pizza parlor and we had fun high fiving our win and that's what it's all about! May this week be uneventful or may you come on here more often so I know how to support you properly. ANDI

Andi, Please tell me you are not a Giants fan! This week should be good. I plan on only working 2 1/2 days, leaving the office around noon on Wednesday. Monday is a Federal holiday, so I won't be back in the office til next Tuesday, a 5 day weekend is just what the doctor order. My sister will be here on Thursday, she's never been to Texas, so it will be fun showing her a few places. Diane

my conundrum is that I like hte Giants/Patriots/Dallas in that order and now i'm in a bind because everyone is going on to the big games! Dallas played an awesome game, we just happened to win, it happens like that some times but it's fun watching with die hard fans! Today i'm back on my program. I'm having my high protein hot cocoa and then i start on my fluids, my goal today is 72 ounces or more! Tell me what you're going to do today to bring you closer to your goal? Hugs, ANDI
