Holiday Party!

Happy Weekend Everyone! The clinic I went through for my WLS is hosting a Holiday Luncheon today with Star Jones as a guest speaker. I'm excited, I don't get to get all dolled up that often. So yesterday I went for a haircut and got my nails done and I'm feeling mighty fabulous. I even bought a Spanx power panty to help me fit into my skirt. My stomach pooches out a bit and didn't look good in this straight skirt. I tell ya, that powerpanty is a miracle. It looks like I have a flat belly. I also just found out I don't have to go to work tomorrow at 4 am, so I am thrilled to death. I get my whole weekend to do some holiday baking. Yes, I said baking. I make fudge and goodies and send some off to my three sisters every year. Then I put a few pieces aside and take the rest to work. I know, it's a terrible tempation for someone who has been struggling with good food choices, but I've done pretty good the last few days. I've been focusing on protein drinks again, my pseudo 5-day pouch test. When I am doing the protein drinks, I feel in control. There are no food choices I have to make, I just have to pick which flavor do I want. Y'all have a great day! Diane

I love baking, and often don't eat what I have cooked - it's just the action of it - really de-stressing. Have fun! Are you just having protein shakes at the moment, or eating as well? I want to do that, I just need to get to do it again. Once I start on things I'm fine, with me it's always the starting that's the problem. Please share some pics once you are all glammed up, we'd love to see you. Have a wonderful weekend, and let us know how it goes on Monday. hugs Ruth

Ruth, The holiday season doesn't seem to start in my heart until I start baking for others. It's part of my nurturing side! For two days, I did just liquid protein and sneaking a biscotti in with one of my lattes each day. Today, because of the party, I did have some lunch and then my husband ordered pizza and I could not resist a slice. Tomorrow I will do all liquids again and see if I can do that for a few days. I am only one pound from goal now and 11 pounds away from a total of 200 lbs loss from my heaviest. It would be nice to say... I've lost 200 lbs. I have never shared my photos before, because you asked so nicely, I added one to My Photos! Diane

Hi Diane Thanks for the photo. You look fantastic! It always amazes me - and please don't take this the wrong way, but you don't look like a 'former fat person'! I would look at you and think, or she's never had a weight problem in her life (when my critical, judgemental side kicks in). You have done sooooo well, and yes, to be able to say that you've lost 200lbs would be such a great feeling for you. I'm sure with your determination you are going to get there soon. I'm going to join you on the liquids today. I'm sipping my protein shake as I type. I've been meaning to do it for days and haven't so you have inspired me to get going on it today. I would really like to lose a bit more before I see Texas next week. They all haven't seen me since the summer of 06 so are not going to recognise me as I was around 70lbs heavier then. I'm really looking forward to all the comments and hopefully compliments! I'll contact you when we get to Dallas to see if we can visit with each other.

Ruth, What is amazing is that when you look at all our pictures, yours included, you would never know that anyone of us was ever "fat." We are all butterflies now. When the folks see you in Dallas they will all be amazed by the transformation and that you are drop dead gorgeous!! I do hope we can meet while you are here. Diane

Diane you own that new skirt don't just wear it! I love spanx..there is a knock off brand called Assets at Target t hat is pretty good! I love a good piece of fudge but i haven't had any since surgery, not sure this is the year to try it either. I had a half of a donut and was laid up on the couch after puking in the sink for the last (3) hours. I still can't look at food yet and I feel like poop. Hugs, ANDI

Andi, Sorry to hear you are puky today! Last year, I only ate some of the shavings when I cut it. That way I knew the fudge was good, got a taste to satisfy me and keep the risk low of dumping. I'm sure I will be a bit more adventurous this year, since my tolerance to sugar has increased. Hope you feel better soon!! Diane

Now Andi, I hope you know me well enough to not take this the wong way... I'm glad you got sick eating the donut - now hopefully you have learned your lesson and will steer clear of them! I could be even meaner and say 'serves you right', but I won't. You know I love you ~ have a rest and hope you feel better soon. Just STEP AWAY FROM THE DONUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it totally served me right and you couldn't be any harder on me then i was on myself! The kids ate the last of my sf peanut butter cups and I just had to have something sweet. I'm not usually that adventurous but these were fresh and smelled so good. I slammed it down so fast i didn't even savour it. ANDI
