I was just wondering how many calories should we be eating a day at this point? I am averaging 1000- 1200 a day and that seems like a lot to me. I am not loosing weight for the last couple of months and im not sure that I want to either. In a way I want to loose another 10 pounds just so I have some wiggle room during the winter but my doctor thinks I am the healthiest where I am now. ... If I do want to loose 5-10 more pounds how many calories do I need to go down to?

It really depends on what your current weight is, how tall you are, how much is your body fat percentage, and most importantly how much exercise you do. I'm 5'6", 163 pounds, less than 20% body fat, and my activity level is very high. I had my resting metabolic rate set at 1800 calories which means that is how much I need in order just to maintain and that is with NO exercise. Since I exercise heavily, I am supposed to get in 2200-2400 calories a day to maintain. But, this is for ME because my body fat percentage is low, it means I burn more calories. If you aren't as active, you burn less calories so you need less food. I hope that makes sense!!! Deanna

We are in the same boat...my doc. says I am at a good weight but I want to lose 10 more. He told me to eat around 1200 to lose...1500-1700 to maintain. I am 5"7" tall and exercise 4 days a week.
