Deanna - how did the race go?
Hi Ruth! Thank you SOOOO much for asking!
I did it! I did it! I ran the entire 6.2 miles in 1 hour 9 minutes! The last mile I was in tears because I knew I was going to finish and I was just so excited that I actually was accomplishing this goal. I kept thinking how a year ago I wouldn't have been able to walk that course, let alone run it ... and here I was running it! I have never been so proud of myself in my whole life!
The great part about these races is that most everyone is "normal" ... they are of all shapes and sizes and ages. It's refreshing to feel like a normal person in the pack. But it's nice to see that there are "everyday" people out there doing this. I don't know why I waited so long to get involved! I'm going to keep signing up for them because this feeling of accomplishment is amazing! It makes me realize I can do anything I set my mind to!!!
Today my hip flexors and quads hurt so bad but it's a great feeling! I'm still in tears just thinking about it!
I put a picture of me crossing the finish line on my profile.
Thanks so much for asking, Ruth!
