Ok now I know we are all different and have different situations, but I am interested in what you would do. I have been offerred promotion at work with more money and more hours. I am already doing the job, but within my existing hours and money, so basically I am getting recognised for that. I have these options: 1. Take the extra hours and money, but have less time at home and probably more stress in my life 2. Stay on the same hours, same pay, and let them recruit someone else to do the additional work, but have less stress and less money in my life Any suggestions?

Do you need the extra money? If you don't need the extra money, I would stay in your current job and let them recruit someone else. If it were me, I'd rather have more time at home and less stress. But that is ME! You have to do what is best for you and your family. How does your husband feel about it? Would it take time away from Millie? Deanna

Deanna has very valid questions that you would need to look at before choosing what to do.. I love challenges and doing new things.. but I would not give away my time and increase my stress just for the money unless I really needed it.. I know this because I have turned down a lot of promotions in my day to keep the nice low stress job I have now.. you need to find those answers in yourself.. to determine if it would be worth it to you...

I am going to be the one to say go for it! Sometimes you just have to strive for things in life! Don't you worry about Millie, I believe that children learn resilience from being in daycare or after school programs, they learn to get along and play well with others, which is what I want. It's good for children to be with other children (in my opinion). I'm a horrid stay at home mother, i'm a micro manager and everything has to be done "just so" which are great traits in business, just not in the home with small children. This new job will afford us the luxury of going on weekend jaunts, a fancy bar mitzvah for the oldest boy and another for the middle boy next year and my new kitchen! It does mean i'm busier during the week that's for sure. I plan my meals better, I start dinner before work so it'll be there when i get home (and am ravenous). I haven't figured out how to add in a work out though but that's coming! I do walk 3-4 times per week over 3 miles so that'll have to suffice until i find out what to do wtih myself! How many extra hours are we talking about, you know you can do the job in the time you've got now? You don't know you'll have more stress in your life, you're assuming you will. The new job I started is phenomenal, I'm busy all the time I don't get to snack now because I'm constantly moving and on the run! I take the stairs and not the elevator and I know I'm burning some extra calories, I'm due for my period next week so it's not like I can tell you how much I'm losing, I usually gain 2-3 pounds this week, cry like a baby, then lose them and a few more next week! I wish you well my friend, challenge yourself to at least consider it with an open mind! Hugs, ANDI

Thanks everyone you've certainly given me 'food' for thought. I knew I could rely on you guys to come up with some sensible discussions and alternative view points Sometimes it's easy to only see your own point of view and seeing things from someone elses perspective always helps.
