Getting back on track.

Hi Everyone, I need some support and encouragement. This is the first time I have posted in six months. I have gotten off track and my night time eating has slowly creeped back. Although it hasn't shown up on the scale yet I know I need to break the grazing-after-dinner habit. I used to log everything I ate on fitday but when I got busy the habit fell away. I still do my two miles four days a week but I know I could be doing more. My strategies to get back on track are: 1. Log everything I eat down to the 0.25 teaspoon of sugar I put into my coffee 2. No eating after dinner!!! 3. Increase my walk to three miles 5x a week and get back to the gym. Any other suggests and helpful comments? Thank you, Christine

so far I have been up and down on the evening snacks. since I do not each much in the morning, it is a good way for me to actually get in all my calories each day. do you graze all night, or do you set aside a specific bowl of something and when you are done, you are DONE? that is what I did last night. I took 1/2 cup of fruit and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and that was my after dinner snack. which I really considered my fourth meal and had no guilt

Hi Christine One way is to hang about here on the May board. We all keep each other going, encouraging and keeping in check. It really helps having that support from others going through the same things. One post Carla does everyday is On track where you can post as much or as little as you like - exercise, food, vitamins, fluid, etc, etc...it is very helpful We'd love it if you stick around - we can always do with more people to share support with

Thank you all for your encouragement and suggestions. I definitely had a better day yesterday. I managed to log everything I ate; stayed just under 1200 calories for the day and stuck to my one cup of watermelon after dinner. I did quite a bit of walking around campus but I don't think I hit the three mile mark - one day at a time. Kat, I liked your idea of having one bowl for after dinner and when it is empty I am done. That is a great way to control portions and stay conscious about my eating. Have a great day, Everyone! Christine
