Do you measure?

Do you all still truly measure your food? Or do you eyeball it and eat until you feel full? Tell the truth...I have never been one to measure. I truly just eat until my pouch says STOP which I know is not the best way to go especially now that we can eat more. How are you guys handling it?

I have always had a problem with guessing portion sizes or stopping when I am full. Until a few months ago I would use a small bowl and roughly measure portion sizes, but lately have gotton lazy and have been eating too much I think. I do not have the abililty to easily leave food on my plate even if I am full and want to finish off what is there. At least now I have an internal mind struggle/dialogue about wasting food. I used to eat it in order not to waste it...duh...how is eating it and becoming obese not wasting it? So just this last week I have gone back to using a small plate or bowl in order to try and reduce my intake and roughly measure again.

I don't measure like I did in the beginning... I do try and use the small bowl/ plate thing... when I went out to eat Saturday night I put my food on the bread plate and had them box the rest...

I have never really measured either.. I do the best guess. I use the small plate as well. I notice when I try to use the bigger plate I put to much food on it and have problems with leaving food on my plate.. I have gotten better in that area, but I will take that one extra bite and die from it.. so I went back to the small plate this week to try and stop that. I hate that uncomfortable feeling and have notice since i went to the bigger plate I have more often... so it seems to have slowed since I went back to the smaller plate.

Yes, I think a smaller plate with all your food on it at once it the answer for me. No seconds, no extra bits...put it all on there from the get go and only eat what's there.

I eyeball now, but I have calibrated my dishes so that I am a pretty good judge of what I can do safely. I know that I can eat a saucer of food or a small bowl. kat

I did at the beginning but now i really don't at all. I prefer to eat off the bread plate if i can without too much trouble. When i go out i order a to go box with the meal and half the meal goes into it, i then cut the remaining meal in half (quarters really) and eat a quarter then wait for a while, if i am still hungry i'll start on the other half but i don't go into the to go box until the next day when my kids usually devour it!
