Except for the fact that I am not following HER rules. We shouldn't be asking each other what to eat, we should be asking our nutritionist and/or surgeons. That way, if its not working they have to be held responsible. And if you aren't following what they have told you, then they will call you on it. I am disappointed to hear," Although you my lose weight in the first year the eating too many carbs will cause you to pack the pounds back in the future unless you exercise and burn the calories." Isn't exercise in the rules too? I get just as frustrated with people that think they will never have to exercise after this surgery. I don't disagree, I don't like winers. I would rather people say that they were following the rules and STILL having problems losing and called their nutritionist to have a major pow wow about what the heck to do now. Please though....good carbs...bad carbs????? The food mentioned was potatoes. If that's bad than I guess I will be gaining all my weight this year. I can't wait. What a great thing to look forward to in year 2.

Carla, I find it very disturbing that carbs are even put on the tables at a OH event. The planners for such events should be ashamed of themselves! Aren't they supposed to set some type of example? Wow. I'm really surprised. By the way, my nutritionist told me the same thing that yours did and I think it is a good rule of thumb. Eat protein first...always, then veggies and carbs...if you have room left. That is the best advise. I am guilty of the pretzel grazing. I really need to stopt that. Any suggestions on a good high protein portable snack? I found the low fat cheese sticks that are only 60 calories and 9 grams of protein each. I was excited about those! Amy

I understand your anger, i feel it myself when i read the boards! My nutritionist did give me the green light on the mashed potatoes (made with milk for some protein) the challenge was I hate mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes are a whole other ball of wax though! Every one of us has our own story to tell so it's not like we couldn't right a book with our own chapters in it....hmmmm think about it for a moment you guys! I am a SLOW loser, i do eat carbs, i know why i'm slow, i'm working on fixing it! I don't blame the surgery, the surgeon, my mother, the environment, I blame Andi, I'm not following protocol, who's problem is that? This week i have been getting in my 64 fluid ounces of liquid, i feel slooshy but good about that, next week i'll work on another component i'd like to change, I'm a work in progress but a work none the less. No less worthy of praise no less worthy of love, no more worthy of a scolding then anyone else....... Hugs My Friend, Andi

Hi Andi Well, I get so mad at the stupid nutritionist who tell already fat carb addicted bariatric patients to eat that stuff. For the most part we are addicted to carbs when we start and they are setting people up for failure. I was fortunate to have the resources to hire two of the best nutritionist in the country. NEVER did they say eat the white stuff. In fact before I married my DH ...I worked as director of social work for a major healthcare organization and as administration of a psychiatric hospital. In both cases when they needed people to gain weight just guess what they gave them, yes, "super foods" "all the white stuff loaded with butter blah blah blah" If those who had the surgery chose to eat it ...then my gripe is ..don't wine about still being fat. My frustration is not at you, or Rachael, because you do not go on line and complain about your surgery not working... You are no less a person fat or thin, I was the same person fat or thin... What drives me crazy is ONLY the ones who blame everything on their weight but the person responsible... themselves! They are the ones who I rant about.. God knows I do not always eat right, but if I stray I blame me, not the surgery Huggs Jean

Whiners are going to be whiners no matter what, it's the belly of the beast, if you blame your weight, your spouse, your mom or dad, your kids, the environment then you don't have to look at the root of the problem. If i get into "harsh reality" mode on the main boards i get flamed that i'm too harsh, these people need our love, i say bull **** on that they need a swift kick in the keister and someone to tell them to take responsibility for their lives. Hugs, ANDI

Sometimes a swift kick IS love - tough love, which is what we all need from time to time!
