QOTD
This weekend at my TOPS convention they had us sit in order of division winners, which meant the older gentleman sitting next to me was the 1st place men's surgical division winner. He was being very quiet and one of the gals came and told him she knew he was shy and nervous but everything would be okay. So I kept to myself because I figured he was nervous and didn't want to talk. Anyway, quite a few minutes passed while neither of us said anything. He leaned over to me and said "When you get to be my age, you can get away with saying things that younger folks might get in trouble for saying ... I just wanted to tell you that you are a VERY attractive woman!" And then he was quiet again and didn't say anything else. Ha, ha! I told him he made my day!
I imagine it took him a long time to work up the nerve to say that. I found out later that he was on the waiting list with the VA hospital for his bypass surgery for 5 years. One day, he was getting ready to commit suicide and that is the day he found out he was approved for surgery. So it literally saved his life! This man truly impacted me, not just because he made me feel good by his compliment, but because I knew it took a lot of guts for him to tell me that.
Anyway, it was the nicest thing anyone has said to me ... because I know it took a lot of nerve for him to say it, so I know he meant it!
