I DID IT
Alright so I walked up to that mean looking treadmill today at the gym and I said to myself.. self.. you can do this.. you use to run.. now get up there and do it.. I had no idea how to turn it on.. how fast to go.. what setting to put it on.. but I got on the beast.. I started at 3..i have short legs so I was running.. than i realized it was too slow.. so i moved it to 4.. than 5.. i decided to set a goal of one mile.. since I havent run in years and i hadnt eaten and had just did an hour and a half with my trainer and on the ellipitical.. so i ran.. and ran.. and ran..
I did a mile in 15 minutes.... not that great but.. hey it was my first mile running. the last 2 laps I did it at the level 5..
Getting my rythmn wasnt bad.. just like riding a bike.. had my cardio at 135 and I was sweating like a dog.. once I was in the zone i could have kept going but didnt want to push myself so I stopped at one mile.. It felt so good running again.
Now i am not so affraid of that treadmill sitting in the corner of my house.. i am eager to hop on it for a couple more miles... well not yet.. but maybe tommorrow.. waiting to see how the knee feels.
So Deanna.. what is a good setting for this thing.. what is the goal rate for running.. how fast or what do you have it set on when you run.. let me know cause I have no idea how fast I should be running..
I am so proud of myself for getting on it and giving it a try.. i've been wanting to try it for a while now.
Oh I want to try so badly. When I lost 100 pds. my husband gave me a pink ipod for exercising and today I saw Nike running capri pants with a built in slot for the ipod. I so ordered them and I have been researching how to choose a running shoe. I now know that I am have high arches, I supinate and not pronate and I given my current weight, I need a cushioning running shoe. Deanna has got us all in a rage about this running thing.
Next thing you know we won't be the May board anymore, we will be our own running club!

CARLA!!!!! You totally rock!!! I'm so proud of you! Don't you feel euphoric now? I love that feeling!
If I am running for distance, I set the pace at 5.50 mph. I can run up to 6.2 mph but only for shorter distances. I'm working on increasing my pace but 5.50 can take me long distances fairly well.
Yippeeee!!!! I'm so excited for you, Carla!!!
